Headed to Illinois Altmyer announced Thursday via his personal Twitter page that he is transferring to Illinois.

Impact Altmyer will come in with 2022 starter Tommy DeVito heading out the door after he was denied a waiver for another year of eligibility. The redshirt freshman appeared in eight games as a backup at Ole Miss completing 28-of-55 pass attempts for 317 yards and three touchdowns to go with three interceptions. His stats aren't eye-popping in the slightest, but he was a former four-star recruit who should be the frontrunner to get the quarterback job right away and will have multiple years of eligibility remaining.
