Kendrick Raphael - Backup role in Week 1 Raphael posted three rushes for 24 yards and caught all two targets for negative one yard during Thursday's 38-21 win over Western Carolina.

Impact Raphael was limited to three carries, as the top halfback Jordan Waters dominated the backfield share with 20. Considering this was a game against a clearly inferior opponent and Jordan Waters still took the majority of the reps, it seems as though this backfield won't be much of a committee. Raphael will get his touches here and there, but this is Waters' backfield until further notice.

Impact McCall being the Wolfpack's starting quarterback Thursday should be no surprise, considering he was who they set their sights on early as a proven replacement for graduate Brennan Armstrong. The successor was Coastal Carolina's primary QB for four years. From 2020 to 2022, he logged at least 2,500 passing yards and 30 touchdowns. So even though a head injury limited him his 2023 season, the Wolfpack are confident McCall's experience will help them succeed during 2024.
