Bound for South Bend Hartman announced via his personal Twitter on Thursday that he will transfer to Notre Dame. Impact Hartman entered the transfer portal following his 2022 senior season with Wake Forest, leading the team to an 8-5 record and win over Missouri in the Gasparilla Bowl. The three-year starter tossed for 7,923 yards and 77 touchdowns to 26 interceptions in 26 games over the past two seasons, and he'll be considered the clear-cut front runner for Notre Dame's starting job heading into his final season of collegiate eligibility in 2023. However, Hartman may still have to compete with sophomore Tyler Buchner, who missed much of the season with a shoulder injury before putting up 274 passing yards and a 3:3 TD:INT ratio during the win over South Carolina in the Gator Bowl. It will be worth monitoring this expected quarterback battle during Notre Dame's spring practices.
