ImpactThe junior receiver was the only position player to do any significant damage against NC state with his 73 receiving yards. Weaver only had 10 receptions in six games last year, so it is encouraging to see him being utilized early in the new year. The 6-foot-1 receiver will look to establish himself as a legit option in the Bulls' offense as the season progresses.

Brian Battie - Struggles on the groundBattie had five rushing attempts for eight yards against NC State.

ImpactAfter averaging 7.2 yards per carry as a true freshman last year, Battie struggled to get anything going on the ground with his limited opportunities. The sophomore ran the ball just five times while averaging just 1.6 yards per carry. Battie ended last season on a strong note and still looks to be the Bulls leading rusher, but it was not an encouraging start to the year for the running back.

Cade Fortin - Struggles mightilyFortin completed seven of 20 pass attempts for 41 yards while throwing one interception and no scores against NC State.

ImpactAfter winning the starting quarterback job over the offseason, Fortin's first start of the year went extremely poorly. The junior only completed seven of his 20 pass attempts for a measly 41 yards and got pulled early in the game as well to give true freshman Timmy McClain some looks as well. Fortin would return to the game but failed to muster any offense and now will be looking to improve upon a lackluster start to the season next week as Bulls face off against Florida.
