Houser expected to start as Milwaukee hosts Colorado

The Brewers are expected to send Adrian Houser to the mound Saturday and the Rockies will give Antonio Senzatela the start

Impact The right-hander's run of allowing two or fewer runs ended at four starts, but he was able to complete six innings for the first time since May 8. Houser was spared from the loss when Willy Adames hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the ninth inning. Houser has a 3.95 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 56:28 K:BB across 70.2 innings this season. He'll remain at 4-5 heading into his next start, tentatively set as a rematch versus Colorado.

Impact Houser was able to limit the Padres to just one run in the third and fourth innings after allowing a leadoff double in both innings. Other than that, he slid past the Padres in 4.2 innings of minimal damage. The 28-year-old has the worst ERA amongst Brewers starters despite having a respectable 3.32 ERA through 19 innings. His next start will come at home Tuesday against the Marlins.

Impact The back end of the Milwaukee rotation was unsettled heading into spring training, but Houser, Brett Anderson and Freddy Peralta were able to lock up the final three spots, resulting in Josh Lindblom moving to the bullpen and Eric Lauer and Jordan Zimmermann getting demoted to minor-league camp. Houser may not head into Opening Day with much job security, however, coming off a 2020 campaign in which he saw his strikeout rate plummet steeply and his ERA climb by nearly a run and a half from 2019. He didn't restore much faith over his five starts this spring, giving up 12 runs (11 earned) on 19 hits and five walks over 12 frames.
