Diego Castillo - Optioned to Reno The Diamondbacks optioned Castillo to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Impact A day after coming up from the minors, Castillo will head right back to Triple-A after going 0-for-1 during Monday's contest. Castillo holds an impressive .892 OPS in Reno this season, so there's a good chance he returns to Arizona later this summer if he continues to produce.

Joe Mantiply - Recalled from Reno The Diamondbacks recalled Mantiply from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Impact Mantiply has taken a major step back this season, accumulating a 5.74 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through 15.2 innings in the majors this season (2.85 ERA in 2022). He hasn't fared well in Triple-A either, but he'll still be called upon to provide Arizona's bullpen with a fresh arm. Peter Strzelecki, who was acquired in a trade with the Brewers on Tuesday, was optioned in a corresponding move.

Tommy Pham - Traded to Arizona Arizona acquired Pham in a trade from the Mets on Tuesday, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.

Impact The sell-off in Queens continues. Pham inked a one-year, $6 million contract with the Mets over the winter and had slashed .268/.348/.472 with 10 homers and 11 steals through 79 games (264 plate appearances) this season. He can help out in the corner outfield and also cycle in at designated hitter as the Diamondbacks look to make the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

Peter Strzelecki - Dealt to Arizona Strzelecki was traded from the Brewers to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday in exchange for Andrew Chafin, John Gamdaboro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Phoenix reports.

Impact Strzelecki has a 3.69 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 77 strikeouts in 70.2 career MLB innings, but he has split time between the majors and Triple-A each of the last two seasons. He could work in the middle innings for Arizona over the rest of the season.

Impact Rivera's 10th-inning single gave the Diamondbacks a brief lead before the Giants scored in the bottom of the frame. It was his sixth straight game with hit; he's 8-for-20 during the streak. A series of moves over the last few days impacts third base going forward. After placing Evan Longoria (back) on the injured list Saturday, Arizona traded infielder Josh Rojas to Seattle then acquired infielder Jace Peterson from Athletics. Peterson is essentially a Rojas replacement -- a left-handed bat that plays second and third base -- and could emerge as a platoon mate of Rivera.

Corbin Carroll - Keeps running Monday Carroll went 1-for-4 with one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Monday's 4-3 extra-innings win over the Giants.

Impact Carroll has logged a steal in four of his last five games, giving him 33 thefts on the year. He had gone four contests without an RBI entering Monday before plating the Diamondbacks' opening run in the sixth inning. The right-hander had quality starts in three of his six outings in July, though he continues to mix in fairly equal shares of good and bad performances. Impact Through 324 plate appearances this season, Peterson holds a .637 OPS -- his lowest mark since 2019 (.599). However, the 33-year-old utilityman is slashing .313/.410/.438 since the All-Star break and will now provide Arizona with a hot bat off the bench that is capable of fielding nearly every defensive position. Peterson likely won't see many starts with his new team, but his versatility should be enough to get him into the lineup every once in a while.
