Ketel Marte - Out due to back issue Marte is out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Mets due to lower-back soreness, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Impact This back issue also explains his absence from Tuesday's series opener against New York, though there has been no indication that Marte will require a trip to the injured list. He could maybe return for Thursday's series finale. Geraldo Perdomo is playing second base for the Diamondbacks on Wednesday and Nick Ahmed will cover shortstop.

Impact Gurriel hit the second of back-to-back homers in the fourth inning. The newly minted All Star belted his third home run in the last five games and has 14 for the season. He has hits in five of the last six games following a 5-for-58 (.138) over 14 contests.

Merrill Kelly - Scheduled for second bullpen Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said Kelly (calf) was expected to throw a 35-40 pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Eli McKown of the Arizona Republic reports.
Impact Lovullo confirmed Kelly's session, which would be his second bullpen, but there was no update later in the day or no reporter inquired. The manager said Kelly "feels good" and is beginning to track back to the rotation, which is expected when eligible following the All-Star break.

Zach Davies - Fans six in no-decision Davies didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Mets, giving up four runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.
Impact The ball was flying at Chase Field, with Davies serving up two of the six homers that left the yard Tuesday afternoon, and the right-hander exited the game after 94 pitches (58 strikes) with the score tied 4-4.
