Pavin Smith - Swats three-run homer Smith went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in a 7-5 win against the Rockies on Monday.

Impact Smith's lone hit of the game was a big one, as his 426-foot three-run shot in the second inning gave the Diamondbacks a lead that they did not relinquish. The long ball snapped a four-game hitless stretch for Smith during which he had gone 0-for-14. Despite the big blast Monday, the 27-year-old is batting a paltry .104 over his past 14 contests. On the plus side, three of his five hits during that span have left the park.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. - Goes deep in win Gurriel went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-5 win against Colorado.

Impact Gurriel popped a solo shot in the fourth inning to account for Arizona's final run of the game. The long ball was his eighth this month after he went deep just once over 26 contests through the end of April. Gurriel has reached base via hit or walk in 22 of his past 23 games and is batting a robust .368 (32-for-87) with a 9:14 BB:K over that span.

Andrew Chafin - Nabs eighth save Chafin earned a save over the Rockies on Monday, retiring the only batter he faced via strikeout.

Impact Drew Jameson pitched 3.2 scoreless innings in relief and nearly closed the game, but Chafin was summoned to record the final out after Randal Grichuk stroked a two-out single in the ninth. Chafin got Elehuris Montero to go down swinging on a slider to finish off the victory and earn his eighth save. The lefty reliever has nabbed four saves in May and appears to be sharing the closer role with Miguel Castro, who also has four saves this month.

Ryne Nelson - Picks up second win Nelson (2-2) earned the win over Colorado on Monday, allowing five runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out one batter over five innings.

Impact Nelson was far from impressive Monday, as he struck out only one batter and notched just three whiffs. To his credit, he managed to hang around for five frames after giving up four runs over the first two innings, and an Arizona offensive surge put him in line for his first win in his last nine outings. Nelson had allowed just one run and four hits over his past 11.1 frames coming into the contest, but his overall 5.37 ERA on the campaign makes him a risky start in fantasy.

Carson Kelly - Closing in on rehab assignment Kelly (forearm) is expected to report to a minor-league affiliate Thursday to begin a rehab assignment, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Impact Kelly was cleared to begin participating in simulated games at extended spring training last week, but he now appears set to get some at-bats in an uncontrolled setting. The veteran catcher has been sidelined since fracturing his right forearm in a March 20 Cactus League game and will likely need an extended rehab assignment to regain his timing at the plate and to show the Diamondbacks that he isn't hampered when it comes to throwing out would-be base stealers. Once activated, Kelly will likely settle in as the top backup to Gabriel Moreno, who has fared well during his first season with the Diamondbacks.

Impact Robinson hasn't played in any games since 2019 after pleading guilty in August 2021 to assaulting a law officer in April 2020. He recently completed an 18-month probationary period without incident and is also apparently not recovered from a recent hamstring injury. Robinson has been viewed as a top-100 prospect in the past and is still just 22, but he'll need to re-establish himself following all the missed time.

Merrill Kelly - Fans 10 in win Kelly (6-3) allowed one run on four hits and two walks over 6.1 frames Sunday, striking out 10 and earning a win over the Red Sox.

Impact Kelly was dominant Sunday, cruising through six shutout frames to begin the contest. He left two runners on base in the seventh and was charged with a run when one came around to score. The 34-year-old righty has won five straight decisions dating back to April 28; during that stretch, he's posted an impressive 44:8 K:BB and 2.41 ERA through 37.1 innings. Kelly will carry a 2.83 ERA into his next start, which is currently lined up to be at home against Atlanta.
