Corbin Carroll - Held out again Wednesday Carroll (knee) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Impact An MRI confirmed that Carroll's left knee injury is merely a bruise, but he remains sore and will get a little more rest. The Diamondbacks are off Thursday, so he'll try to be ready when the team begins a homestand Friday. With Carroll out, Dominic Fletcher is in right field Wednesday.

Peter Solomon - Demoted to Reno The Diamondbacks optioned Solomon to Triple-A Reno following Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Rangers.

Impact Solomon wasn't needed in relief Tuesday, but he'll lose his spot on the 26-man active roster in any case after the Diamondbacks promoted right-hander Brandon Pfaadt from Triple-A in a corresponding move in advance of his scheduled start in Wednesday's series finale in Texas. During the three-plus weeks he was up with the big club, Solomon made five relief appearances and was blitzed for 18 earned runs on 17 hits and 11 walks over 13.1 innings.

Seth Beer - Loses 40-man spot The Diamondbacks designated Beer for assignment Wednesday.

Impact The transaction opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Brandon Pfaadt, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Reno ahead of Wednesday's game against the Rangers. The 26-year-old Beer had yet to appear in the majors this season and slashed .200/.266/.314 in 79 plate appearances with Reno. His poor numbers at Triple-A and lack of defensive flexibility means he's unlikely to be claimed off waivers.

Brandon Pfaadt - Call-up confirmed The Diamondbacks announced that Pfaadt's contract has been selected from Triple-A Reno ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Rangers at Globe Life Field.

Impact The 24-year-old right-hander will be making his much-anticipated big-league debut in Texas, stepping into a back-end rotation spot for Arizona after the team recently released Madison Bumgarner and optioned Drey Jameson to Triple-A. Pfaadt attracted attention in the minors through his gaudy strikeout rates, as he punched out 218 batters in 167 innings between Reno and Double-A Amarillo in 2022 and has struck out 30 in 25.1 innings thus far in 2023. The strikeout potential Pfaadt brings to the table makes him an intriguing speculative pickup in nearly any league where he might be available on the waiver wire.

Impact McGough entered with the Diamondbacks leading after starter Zac Gallen managed five innings. Impact The results of the MRI confirms the original assessment of a left knee contusion. Carroll, who took batting practice Tuesday, has not played since sustaining the injury Saturday. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said the team is taking a conservative approach with the outfielder, who still feels "some soreness."

Impact Gallen entered Tuesday with four straight scoreless starts of at least six innings. The Rangers scored in the first inning and then pushed across two more in the fifth, which was Gallen's last inning. The righty still left the game with the lead, but the Arizona bullpen couldn't hold on, keeping Gallen at four wins. Gallen is off to a dominant start with a 2.53 ERA and 0.84 WHIP in 2023.

Impact Getting approval for the work visa was the final hurdle Robinson needed to clear to resume his professional career after he hadn't appeared in an official game since the 2019 season after pleading guilty to felony assault charges stemming from an incident involving a law enforcement officer that occurred in April 2020. With his charges having since been downgraded to a misdemeanor after he completed an 18-month probation sentence, Robinson, who has been able to participate in games on the back fields of Diamondbacks camp, now looks to be on the cusp of joining an affiliate once he's back to full speed. Though Robinson is now off the restricted list, the Diamondbacks still have to eventually clear a spot for him on the 40-man roster and will have 30 days to do so. The 22-year-old outfielder is expected to report to Single-A Visalia when the hamstring injury is fully behind him.

Kristian Robinson - Looks ready for minor-league action The Diamondbacks activated Robinson and reassigned him to the minor leagues Monday.

Impact Robinson was added to the Diamondbacks' 40-man roster in November 2021, but he was simultaneously placed on the restricted list because he was in the midst of serving an 18-month probationary sentence after he had been charged with assaulting a police offer in an incident that occurred in Arizona in April 2020. Because he's a native of The Bahamas and not a U.S. citizen, Robinson wasn't able to secure a work visa due to his legal situation and hasn't played in an official minor-league game since his arrest. He completed his probationary period and has been able to work out at the Diamondbacks' spring training facility since last spring, but his activation Monday now signals that Robinson has had his charges downgraded and is eligible to begin playing in minor-league games. The Diamondbacks haven't yet to assign the 22-year-old outfielder to an affiliate, but he'll presumably join Single-A Visalia or High-A Hillsboro whenever the organization feels he's ready to play.
