Ketel Marte - Drives in two in win Marte went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Monday's 3-0 win over the Pirates.
Impact Marte helped give Diamondbacks closer Ian Kennedy some added cushion with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, when he poked a base hit past a diving Oneil Cruz to plate two runs. Though he often occupies a spot in the heart of the order for Arizona, Marte now has just three multi-RBI games since the beginning of July, and his production in other categories has been rather empty as well. Over the past five weeks, he's managed only six home runs, zero stolen bases and 18 runs while batting .252 over a 31-game stretch.

Tommy Henry - Packing new slider, curve Henry tweaked the grip on his slider and curveball and plans to use it in Tuesday's start against Pittsburgh, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.
Impact The change was suggested by pitching coach Brent Strom, who instructed Henry to hold the ball deeper in his hand for both pitches. Strom said he's worked with many pitchers that had good curveballs, including Nolan Ryan, who held the ball farther into their hand. Henry, whose grip on both pitches gradually changed over time without him noticing, responded well to the adjustment during a bullpen session Saturday and will bring it with him Tuesday, his second career MLB start. "It's really about giving myself space to rip down on it and pull down on it," Henry said. The left-hander worked around shaky command in his first major-league start against the Guardians last week, allowing one run through four innings before being done in by a three-run home run in the fifth.

Impact Castellanos had been an intriguing and emerging member of the rotation at the time of his elbow injury in late May. The right-hander could miss all of 2023.

Ian Kennedy - Secures seventh save Kennedy struck out one batter and issued a walk while earning a save with a scoreless inning during Monday's win over Pittsburgh.
Impact Kennedy worked around a one-out walk to Tucupita Marcano and didn't have much issue finishing off the 3-0 win. The veteran righty has converted three straight save chances and has allowed just one run in 7.2 innings since blowing his last opportunity July 24. He's now sporting a 3.13 ERA with a 35:15 K:BB through 41 appearances. He seems to have passed Mark Melancon in the pecking order for saves, though we'll see if the Diamondbacks continue a committee approach or settle on Kennedy as the clear guy.
