Mark Melancon - Shaky in save Melancon allowed a hit and two walks while striking out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 6-4 win over the Rockies.

Impact Melancon was removed from the full-time closer gig after a blown save versus the Guardians last Monday. With Ian Kennedy unavailable after pitching the two previous days and Joe Mantiply having pitching earlier in the game, manager Torey Lovullo asked Melancon to close. He loaded the bases with two outs but got a fielder's choice to end the contest without surrendering a run for the first time in his last three appearances. Neither his recent work nor his season-long numbers -- a 4.54 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 27:15 K:BB -- should inspire much confidence in the 37-year-old's ability to lock things down. This was his 15th save in 18 chances, but expect Ian Kennedy and Joe Mantiply to get their chances in the ninth inning over the last two months of the season. Kennedy picked up the first two saves since the move to a committee approach, while Mantiply was deployed in the sixth inning Sunday.

Zach Davies - Solid in no-decision Davies allowed four hits and two walks while striking out three over five scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Sunday.

Impact Davies put in a solid performance in his second start back from a shoulder injury. He threw 49 of 80 pitches for strikes, but the Rockies weren't able to capitalize on his so-so command. It was a significant improvement after he allowed four runs in two innings in his previous start. The right-hander trimmed his ERA to 4.03 with a 1.22 WHIP and 66:30 K:BB through 87 innings across 17 starts this year. Davies is projected for a road rematch with the Rockies next week.

Impact Manager Torey Lovullo turned to the right-hander to pitch the ninth inning of a tie game and Kennedy surrendered a one-out Ryan McMahon solo home run to fall in line for the loss. The 37-year-old tossed eight pitches during Friday's save but was still able to fire 13 of 18 pitches for strikes Saturday. Kennedy had fired 5.2 scoreless innings prior to Saturday's hiccup and still features a solid 3.22 ERA across 36.1 innings this season. He's expected to feature as part of Arizona's closer committee after Mark Melancon was removed from the role.

Merrill Kelly - Continues solid stretch Kelly registered a no-decision during Saturday's 3-2 loss to Colorado, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk with five strikeouts in seven-plus innings.

Impact Kelly fired six scoreless frames before surrendering a run on two hits in the seventh. He also allowed a solo home run and a single in the eighth before being pulled.
