Notches 26th save Chapman fired a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit while striking out one to earn the save in the win over the Mets on Saturday.

Impact Chapman entered the ninth inning with a one-run lead. He gave up a ground-rule double to J.D. Davis, but retired the other three batters to earn the save. It has been rough for the closer lately, as he's allowed runs in four of his last nine appearances. He has a 3.78 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with a stellar 15.3 K/9 in 47.2 innings this season.

Struggles in non-save situation Chapman retired two of the five batters he faced in his relief appearance in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Blue Jays, allowing a solo home run and issuing two walks.

Impact Yankees manager Aaron Boone turned to Chapman in a non-save situation Wednesday after the closer was stuck with the loss his last time out Saturday versus Baltimore, but the lefty fireballer didn't inspire much confidence in what should have been a low-stress appearance. Not only did he serve up a solo shot to Vladimir Guerrero, but Chapman couldn't consistently find the zone, tossing only 10 of his 24 pitches for strikes while also uncorking a wild pitch. Chapman left the contest with two runners on base, but Wandy Peralta spared him of any further damage to his ERA by inducing an inning-ending groundout.

Back from IL Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Chapman (elbow) will be activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Impact The Yankees were satisfied with how Chapman has bounced back from a bout with left elbow inflammation in his recent throwing sessions, so he'll rejoin the active roster without requiring a minor-league rehab assignment beforehand. Prior to getting shut down Aug. 7, Chapman had been in top form since the All-Star break after a rough finish to the first half. In 10 appearances dating back to mid-June, Chapman posted a 0.90 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB while going 7-for-7 in save opportunities across 10 innings. With the Yankees seemingly satisfied with his health, Chapman should take back closing duties from Jonathan Loaisiga and others right away.
