Michael Harris II - Inks eight-year extension Atlanta signed Harris to an eight-year, $72 million contract extension Tuesday that includes a $15 million club option for 2031 and a $20 million club option for 2032.
Impact The 21-year-old, who went 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Tuesday's win over the Mets, was promoted for his big-league debut in late May, and he has a .287/.325/.500 slash line with 12 home runs, 39 RBI and 13 stolen bases through his first 71 games in the majors. Atlanta wasted little time in offering an extension and continued its trend of securing young talent long before free agency. With the two option years, Harris is now under team control for the next decade.

Impact After getting called up from Triple-A Gwinnett on Aug. 7, Tromp went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI in his lone game for Atlanta on Saturday against the Marlins. He apparently picked up the injury in that game and will now miss at least the next week and a half, but he likely wouldn't have stuck around with the big club much longer even if he hadn't gotten hurt. Impact The addition of Goins provides Atlanta with a utility option in the infield after Ehire Adrianza (illness) was placed on the COVID-19 injured list over the weekend before being transferred to the 10-day IL. Vaughn Grissom, Dansby Swanson and Austin Riley are still expected to see the overwhelming majority of starts at second base, shortstop and third base, respectively, so Goins' opportunities with Atlanta are likely to be scarce while he's up with the club. The 34-year-old was hitting .220/.249/.271 in 250 plate appearances at Gwinnett this season.

Impact Tarnok becomes the third pitching prospect to join Atlanta within the past few days, after Kyle Muller and Bryce Elder were previously called up and then optioned back to Gwinnett following spot starts against the Marlins over the weekend. Atlanta hasn't immediately announced its plans for Tarnok, but if he isn't needed out of the bullpen Tuesday or Wednesday, he could be called upon to make a spot start Thursday against the Mets or Friday against the Astros if neither Max Fried (concussion) or Kyle Wright (arm) is ready to make his next turn through the rotation.
