Spencer Strider - Dominates Reds for fourth win Strider (4-2) earned the win Saturday, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over six innings against the Reds. He struck out 11.

Impact Strider's rookie breakout continued with his second double-digit strikeout game of the season and arguably his best overall performance to date in the big leagues. He induced a whopping 24 swinging strikes on 93 pitches, and Cincinnati was only able to scratch a run across after a hit-by-pitch, a wild pitch and a single. Strider had a recent bump in the road against San Francisco (six earned runs in 3.2 innings), but he's flashing frontline starter potential.

Impact Toussaint was once a big-time prospect, and he showed flashes in the big leagues as recently as last season, but the right-hander has struggled to the tune of a 6.26 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 41.2 innings for Triple-A Gwinnett this season. The Atlanta front office lost patience, but Toussaint is still just 26 years old, so he may be appealing to another team as a reclamation project.

Jay Jackson - Reinstated, optioned to Triple-A Atlanta reinstated Jackson (lat) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.

Impact Touki Toussaint was designated for assignment to make room for Jackson on the 40-man roster. Jackson will essentially continue his rehab at Triple-A for a while longer after he missed the first three months of the season with a right lat strain. It would seem Atlanta does expect him to contribute in the second half.

Impact It was a painful return from a four-game absence for Acuna, who had been out with a minor foot injury. Cincinnati hurlers plunked batters four times in total on the night, which could result in some retaliation later this weekend, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see Acuna get Saturday off as Atlanta continues to treat the 24-year-old superstar with kid gloves in an effort to keep him healthy.

Impact The third baseman got Atlanta on the board with a two-run blast off Mike Minor in the first inning, giving Max Fried and the Atlanta bullpen all the run support they would need on the night. Riley snapped a 12-game homer drought with the performance, but on the season he's still batting .260 with 19 long balls and 46 RBI through 76 contests.

The performance snapped a brief 0-for-12 mini-slump, but Swanson still boasts a stunning .350/.406/.615 slash line since the beginning of June, a 28-game stretch that features eight homers, three steals, 22 RBI and 23 runs.

Max Fried - Cruises to eighth win Fried (8-2) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on five hits over seven innings in a 9-1 victory over the Reds. He struck out four without walking a batter.

Impact Atlanta jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, and that was all the support Fried would need. The southpaw fired 63 of 94 pitches for strikes en route to his third straight quality start and 12th in his last 14 trips to the mound, and Fried will take a sharp 2.66 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 96:16 K:BB through 101.1 innings into his next outing.

A 2.5 percent walk rate is just about the only blemish on his performance so far in the majors.

Impact The right-hander got stronger as the start progressed, and Tarnok fanned eight of the final nine batters he faced while striking out the side in the fourth and fifth innings. The 23-year-old had a shaky start to the season, but over his last five appearances he's posted a 2.55 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 31:7 K:BB through only 17.2 innings. Tarnok has yet to put everything together after being the 80th overall pick in the 2017 Draft, but his fastball sits in the mid-90s and his curveball has flashed plus, and he may still have some development left in his athletic 6-foot-3 frame.
