Cionel Pérez - Nabs win Friday Perez (1-0) allowed a run on three hits and struck out one over one inning to earn the win Friday over the Yankees.
Impact Perez has had some mixed results through 4.1 innings across four appearances this season. He's struck out five without walking a batter, but he's been tagged for two runs and seven hits. Perez has worked in a high-leverage role as expected, though he's unlikely to challenge Felix Bautista for the majority of the Orioles' save chances.

Jorge Mateo - Swipes fifth bag Mateo went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 7-6 win over the Yankees.
Impact Starting at shortstop and batting ninth, Mateo continues to run wild and he's now tied for the big-league lead in steals with five, matching Gleyber Torres and Myles Straw. Mateo is also supplying plenty of early value with his bat too, and the 27-year-old is hitting .350 (7-for-20) with two homers, five RBI and seven runs through six games.

Félix Bautista - Nails down third save Bautista walked out and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his third save of the season in a 7-6 win over the Yankees.
Impact The big right-hander made things interesting, as Aaron Judge stole second and went to third on a wild pitch after his two-out walk, but Bautista got Anthony Rizzo to fly out to end the game. The O's closer got a late start to his spring to make sure his shoulder and knee were healthy, but it seems the plan worked as Bautista has a 7:2 K:BB through his first 3.2 innings in 2023.

Dean Kremer - Settles for no-decision Friday Kremer didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 7-6 win over the Yankees, giving up four runs on five hits and three walks over five-plus innings. He struck out four.
Impact The right-hander avoided any damage in the first three innings despite allowing baserunners in each frame, but Kremer's luck began to run out in the fourth and he was briefly on the hook for the loss when the Yankees took a 5-4 lead in the sixth. Kremer tossed 52 of 87 pitches for strikes, and this outing was still an improvement on his first of the year, when he coughed up five runs in three innings against the Red Sox. He'll carry a 10.13 ERA into his next outing, likely to come next week at home against the A's.

Impact Givens' recovery from left knee inflammation has seemingly been coming along more slowly than expected, but being able to throw from the bump again is certainly a nice step. The veteran reliever figures to need at least a couple rehab appearances before joining the Orioles' bullpen.

Impact Urias has now made more starts a third base (four) than Gunnar Henderson (three) this season and has an additional start under his belt at second base (Henderson holds the edge in overall starts with six to Urias' five). It's a bit of a surprise, but the O's clearly value Urias' defense following a Gold Glove-winning showing in 2022.

Austin Voth - Takes loss Wednesday Voth (0-1) allowed three runs on four hits and struck out three over 1.1 innings, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Rangers.
Impact Voth was responsible for Josh Jung's tiebreaking two-run home run in the sixth inning as well as a Nathaniel Lowe RBI double in the seventh. The 30-year-old Voth was thought to be in the mix to take Kyle Bradish's (foot) place in the rotation, but the Orioles instead opted to call up top prospect Grayson Rodriguez, who allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over five innings in his major-league debut. It looks like Voth will likely spend much of 2023 in a low-leverage role out of the bullpen. He's given up four runs, including two homers, across his first 2.1 innings this season.

Impact Rodriquez walked the first batter he saw in his MLB debut and got hit hard in the first inning, allowing two runs on two hits. However, the rookie settled down after a rough first and posted four scoreless outings to keep Baltimore in the game against Jacob deGrom. Rodriquez should draw at least one more start with Kyle Bradish (foot) on the 15-day injured list, but the 2018 first-round pick will likely have to shine in his next outing to stick in the big leagues long term. He's scheduled to pitch again next Tuesday against Oakland.
