Connolly: It's not really a rivalry, but Nationals have shown Orioles what's possible Since the Nationals moved into Orioles territory in 2005, there's been a hope — a not-so-subtle push — for these two clubs to be rivals.
Austin Voth - Collects win in relief Voth (5-2) earned the win Wednesday over the Nationals. He walked two and struck out none in a scoreless inning.
Impact Voth was able to pick up the win in his first appearance against his former team. The right-hander was used out of the bullpen Wednesday after previously making 14 of his first 18 appearances with the Orioles as a starter. He now has a 4.36 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 78:29 K:BB through 86.2 innings between Baltimore and Washington this year. The 30-year-old is expected to re-enter the rotation next week during the Orioles' three-game home series versus the Tigers.

Jorge Mateo - Hits 13th home run Mateo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's win over Washington.
Impact Mateo took a first pitch slider from reliever Mason Thompson over the fence to left for his 13th home run on the season. The home run was Mateo's first in 20 games dating back to Aug. 20, a period in which he was slashing a meager .188/.221/.297 line through 68 plate appearances entering Wednesday. The 27-year-old's .222 average on the season has been tough to stomach, but with 13 long balls to go along with 30 stolen bases, he has still proven valuable in category leagues.

Gunnar Henderson - Stays hot with two hits Henderson went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, four RBI and one run scored in Wednesday's win over the Nationals.
Impact For the second night in a row, Henderson recorded two hits, including his first career triple. The triple down the left field line in the seventh inning scored two runners, and a throwing error by the left fielder allowed Henderson to come around and score himself. He also doubled in a run in the eighth inning to go along with an RBI groundout earlier in the game. In 14 games since being called up, Henderson is slashing .320/.370/.520. While he should not be expected to perform at this level for a full season, his slash line is similar to the .288/.390/.504 slash line he maintained in 295 plate appearances at Triple-A this year, giving credence to his strong performance thus far.

Tyler Wells - Allows two runs over four innings Wells did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing two runs on two hits and no walks over four innings against the Nationals. He struck out four.
Impact Wells worked his pitch count up to 50 after tossing 34 in his first start back from the injured list Sept. 7. Luke Voit and Riley Adams each tagged Wells for solo home runs, but he was otherwise effective as those were the only two batters the 28-year-old allowed to reach base on the evening. He will take a 3.93 ERA into his next start, which will likely come against Detroit next week.
