Wilyer Abreu - Back in action Sunday Abreu (hand) is starting in left field and batting sixth Sunday against the White Sox, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Impact The 24-year-old has been held out of the starting nine since Sept. 16 with a hand injury, but he'll rejoin the lineup for Sunday's series finale versus Chicago. Abreu has a .364/.435/.509 slash line with a homer, three steals, 10 RBI and eight runs in 62 plate appearances since making his MLB debut Aug. 22.

Kyle Barraclough - DFA'd by Sox The Red Sox designated Barraclough for assignment Sunday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Impact Now that Zack Kelly (elbow) has returned from the 60-day IL, Barraclough will lose his spot on the 40-man roster to create room for Kelly. Barraclough made just three appearances for the Red Sox this season, giving up 11 runs over 7.2 frames.

Nick Robertson - Optioned to Triple-A The Red Sox optioned Robertson to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Impact Robertson will be pushed off the big-league roster following the return of Zack Kelly (elbow) from the 60-day injured list. Robertson has given up eight runs over 11 innings since joining the Red Sox in July.

Impact Kelly has been out for most of the season while recovering from an elbow surgery he underwent in April. He allowed eight runs over six innings during his rehab assignment and has been deemed ready to join Boston's bullpen for the final week-plus of the season. The Red Sox optioned Nick Robertson to Triple-A Worcester and designated Kyle Barraclough for assignment as corresponding moves.

Impact The White Sox mustered just three singles off Pivetta; however, Boston's offense didn't provide any run support and the 30-year-old had to settle for a no-decision. In five September appearances (four starts), he has posted a 3.08 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and an impressive 33:4 K:BB across 26.2 innings. Pivetta tentatively lines up for a road matchup with the AL East-leading Orioles in the team's final regular-season series next week.

Impact Weiss has performed well since being recalled from Triple-A on Sept. 9, allowing just two runs over 8.2 innings while striking out eight batters and walking four. However, the return of Kenley Jansen (illness) will force Weiss back to Worcester for the final days of the minor-league season.

Kenley Jansen - Returns from COVID IL The Red Sox reinstated Jansen from the COVID-19 injured list Saturday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Impact Jansen tested positive for COVID-19 on Sept. 13 and will now return to Boston's bullpen after a 10-day absence, sending Zack Weiss back to Triple-A Worcester. The 35-year-old closer has allowed five runs in three innings across his last five appearances, and he hasn't recorded a save since Aug. 20.
