Kutter Crawford - Gets little help in loss Crawford (8-11) took the loss Saturday as the Red Sox fell 4-1 to the Diamondbacks, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out three. Impact The right-hander was effective over 88 pitches (55 strikes), but all three hits he allowed went for extra bases and Boston hitters didn't scratch out a run until the ninth inning. Crawford has yet to complete six innings in a start since the All-Star break, and his career-high workload (147 innings and counting) seems to have caught up with him. On the bright side, he did avoid serving up a home run Saturday after getting tagged for 14 long balls in 29.1 innings over his last six starts. Crawford will look for a better result in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Blue Jays.
