X-rays reveal no fracture Biggio underwent X-rays on Wednesday that revealed no fracture to his pinkie finger, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.

Impact Biggio was scratched from Wednesday's spring lineup due to finger discomfort, but it doesn't appear as though he'll be forced to miss additional time. Manager Charlie Montoyo said Wednesday that Biggio is currently considered day-to-day. It's unlikely that the injury will limit the 25-year-old's availability for Opening Day.

Scratched from lineup Biggio has been scratched from Wednesday's spring lineup against the Yankees due to right pinky finger discomfort.

Impact Biggio was initially slated to bat second and play third base Wednesday, but Randal Grichuk will now bat second while Breyvic Valera joins Toronto's lineup, playing first base and batting ninth. Biggio had been putting together a strong spring this year and will serve as Toronto's primary third baseman if he's healthy to begin the season, but the severity of Biggio's injury isn't yet known.

Named primary third baseman Manager Charlie Montoyo said Wednesday that Biggio will be the team's primary third baseman in 2021, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.

Impact Biggio was expected to see more time at third base in 2021 after the Blue Jays acquired Marcus Semien during the offseason, and Montoyo confirmed the assumption Wednesday. However, Montoyo also said that Biggio will see some work at other positions as well, which isn't surprising given his defensive versatility. The 25-year-old appeared in 59 games during the abbreviated 2020 season, slashing .250/.375/.432 with eight home runs, 28 RBI and six stolen bases.
