Impact Ortega led off in this one and managed his fifth home run of the season in the third inning. The left-handed hitting outfielder is still sitting regularly against southpaws, with the likes of Christopher Morel and Nelson Velazquez gobbling up more starts on those occasions. Ortega can still deliver some fantasy value versus righties, however, as he has an .802 OPS against them since 2020.

Impact Givens got into some trouble and needed 24 pitches to work through the eighth inning, but the righty managed his 14th straight outing without allowing an earned run. His six wins this season are actually second on the team, which is a bit of good luck but also indicative of the struggles of Chicago's rotation. Either way, Givens has been able to deliver some fantasy value from the bullpen despite not serving as the team's closer, though it's hard to count on the wins to keep coming.

Impact Regular closer David Robertson pitched the last two days, so the Cubs gave him the day off and turned to Effross instead. The 28-year-old responded with his first save at the MLB level in four career chances. Effross has been pretty solid this year with a 2.72 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 50 strikeouts across 43 innings, and he might end up seeing more save chances if the veteran Robertson ends up getting traded before the upcoming deadline.
