Conner Menez - Outrighted to Triple-A Menez cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Iowa on Monday, Tim Stebbins of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Impact Menez was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Saturday, but he'll remain with the Triple-A club after clearing waivers. Over eight appearances (one start) in Iowa this season, he's posted a 2.08 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 17.1 innings.

Impact Manager David Ross turned to Wick for Sunday's save after closer David Robertson threw 39 pitches Saturday. The 29-year-old surrendered a leadoff triple to Harrison Bader before Lars Nootbaar tied the game with a single. Wick has spiraled a bit since recording his most recent save May 15, allowing seven runs in 9.1 innings across nine appearances, which has inflated his ERA from 1.32 to 3.52.

Justin Steele - Fires seven frames of one-run ball Steele didn't factor into the decision during Sunday's 5-3 loss to St. Louis, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and three walks with one strikeout in seven innings.

Impact Steele was efficient Sunday, navigating a season-high seven innings on 94 pitches, but he encountered trouble in the fifth when both runs scored on three hits and an error. The additional innings came at a cost though, as the 26-year-old whiffed only one batter after striking out 27 batters in 18 innings across his previous four starts. The Cubs didn't plan on having Kilian debut this weekend, but injuries to other pitchers forced their hand with four games in three days. That said, the Cubs' top pitching prospect will probably be back in the big-league rotation for good some point in the coming weeks.

Impact The 27-year-old was productive in both ends of the twin bill but he did most of his damage in the Cubs' 6-1 win during the matinee. Happ has hit safely in six straight games, batting .450 (9-for-20) with three doubles, a triple and a homer during that stretch, and the tear has boosted his slash line on the season to .272/.377/.451 with six home runs, four steals, 27 runs and 29 RBI through 52 contests.

The Cardinals struck for three runs in the fourth inning with the top of the lineup getting a second look at Kilian. He leaned on his 93-mph sinker (touched 97 mph) and his 89 mph cutter (touched 92 mph) while also mixing in his 95-mph four-seamer and his curveball. It remains to be seen if Kilian will stick in a six-man rotation, but he could be optioned back to Triple-A Iowa when Chris Martin is activated from the bereavement list.
