Nico Hoerner - No hits in returnHoerner (hamstring) went 0-for-4 with one strikeout in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Cincinnati.
ImpactThe second baseman missed over a month with a left hamstring strain, and he wasn't able to shake off the rust in his first game back. Hoerner has a .321/.386/.410 slash line with nine RBI, nine runs scored and three stolen bases through 88 plate appearances. He is likely to resume an everyday role at second base, although Eric Sogard or Ian Happ could challenge him for playing time if he struggles.

Javier Báez - Posts stolen base, RBI in lossBaez went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a stolen base in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Cincinnati.
ImpactThe shortstop knocked in Kris Bryant with an RBI single in the first inning. In the sixth, Baez hit another single and added his 10th stolen base in 12 attempts this season. Baez endured a brutal slump in June, batting just .157 (13-for-83) with five home runs, 13 RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base in 25 games. His multi-hit effort Sunday was his first since May 31, as he looks to improve upon a .225/.274/.458 slash line across 296 plate appearances this year.

Dan Winkler - Charged with loss SundayWinkler (1-1) allowed two runs on two hits in one-third of an inning, taking the loss versus Cincinnati on Sunday. He also hit two batters.
ImpactWinkler allowed the first three batters he faced to reach before getting his lone out on a fielder's choice. His second hit batter yielded Cincinnati's game-tying run, and reliever Andrew Chafin allowed another fielder's choice with the run charged to Winkler. The right-hander allowed runs for the just the fourth time in 32 appearances this year. He owns a strong 1.82 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 31:16 K:BB with six holds across 29.2 innings.

Kyle Hendricks - Quality start in no-decisionHendricks allowed a run on five hits and struck out five in six innings versus Cincinnati on Sunday. He did not factor in the decision.
ImpactAfter stringing together eight wins in eight starts from May 16 to June 22, Hendricks has taken no-decisions in his last two outings. Sunday's effort was a strong one from the right-hander, but relievers Dan Winkler and Andrew Chafin allowed a narrow one-run lead to slip away in the seventh inning. Hendricks owns a 3.83 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 79:19 K:BB across 98.2 innings this year. The 31-year-old is projected to face St. Louis in next weekend's series.

Art Warren - Nabs second winWarren (2-0) retired the only batter he faced via groundout, earning the win Sunday over the Cubs.
ImpactThe right-hander got the final out of the seventh inning, and Cincinnati rallied for the lead in the bottom of the seventh to put him in line for the win. Warren has two wins in his last three outings after failing to record a decision, save or hold in his first 12 appearances of the season. He has a 2.03 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB across 13.1 innings this year, and his solid pitching could lead to more high-leverage work eventually.

Amir Garrett - Collects sixth saveGarrett allowed a hit and a walk but did not allow a run in two-thirds of an inning, earning the save in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Cubs.
ImpactGarrett walked Ian Happ and allowed a single to Eric Sogard, but the left-hander was able to get Willson Contreras to ground into a double play. The save was Garrett's sixth of the year to go with four holds and two blown saves in 34 outings. He's posted a 7.01 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 32:17 K:BB across 25.2 innings, but he hasn't allowed a run in his last 6.1 innings spanning nine appearances.
