ImpactGallagher has been sidelined since mid-June due to a right shoulder impingement, but his recovery progress has gone smoothly so far, and he participated in catching drills while dressed in full gear Wednesday. The 28-year-old will return to minor-league game action Thursday, and he could rejoin the major-league club in the near future.

ImpactSoler has now found himself on the bench for three of the Royals' last five games. He'll be a free agent this winter, so the rebuilding team may not see too much reason to give him regular at-bats down the stretch given that he's hitting just .183/.279/.309 on the year. Jarrod Dyson will be the right fielder Thursday, with Ryan O'Hearn serving as the designated hitter.

ImpactSantillan will be taking the roster spot that had belonged to Sonny Gray (ribs), who hit the injured list in a corresponding move. It doesn't look as though he'll be taking Gray's spot in the rotation, however, as Gray just pitched Wednesday and won't see his turn come up again until after the All-Star break. Santillan is unlikely to have much fantasy value as a reliever, as his solid 3.78 ERA in four starts this season comes with a roughly average 24.4 percent strikeout rate and a poor 1.68 WHIP.

ImpactGray lasted seven innings for the second time this year in Wednesday's win over the Royals, but he apparently sustained a rib injury that will land him back on the injured list ahead of the All-Star break. The severity of the issue isn't yet clear, and whether he's able to return shortly after the All-Star break remains to be seen. Right-hander Tony Santillan was recalled from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move.

ImpactManager David Bell said that part of the reason Farmer was held out of Wednesday's lineup was due to "body soreness," but he'll be back in action a day later. The 30-year-old will start at shortstop and bat eighth.
