Adam Frazier - Decent eye at plate in springFrazier has gone 1-for-10 with three walks and two strikeouts over four Cactus League games.
ImpactFrazier is doing alright with plate discipline. He is competing with Michael Massey for the starting job at second base, but neither player has stood out all that much in the first week-plus of spring games. Frazier can also provide coverage in the corner outfield, so he's likely to be on the Royals' major-league roster as at least a utility option throughout 2024. If neither Frazier nor Massey claim second base for themselves, Nick Loftin and Garrett Hampson could also be in the mix for at-bats there.

MJ Melendez - Decent start to springMelendez has gone 3-for-11 over his first five Cactus League games.
ImpactMelendez will focus on the outfield in 2024, projecting as the starting left field, per Anne Rogers of MLB.com. Melendez has yet to put all of his tools together over his first two big-league seasons. He's hit 34 home runs and added 118 RBI over 277 contests, but he slashed just .235/.316/.398 last season. While Melendez's spot on the field is secure, any prolonged slump could open the door for Drew Waters -- who can play at all three outfield spots -- to get more of a look.

Elly De La Cruz - Mashes first spring homerDe La Cruz had a home run and two walks during Saturday's spring game against Colorado.
ImpactDe La Cruz crushed his first spring home run off Cal Quantrill's 1-1 sinker that stayed up in the zone. De La Cruz later committed an error that led to four unearned runs. In five Cactus League appearances, he's 5-for-12 with two extra-base hits, three walks, three runs and two RBI.
