ImpactNewcomb underwent surgery on his lateral meniscus on his left knee this past September, but he was able to make his spring debut March 13 against the Royals. It appears that he re-aggravated the injury, however, and the left-hander will miss the start of the 2024 season. In addition to Newcomb, the Athletics will also be without Luis Medina (knee) and Ken Waldichuk (elbow) to begin the season.

Trevor Gott - Will undergo Tommy John surgeryGott will undergo Tommy John surgery after being diagnosed with a fully torn UCL in his right elbow, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
ImpactIt's not clear how long the elbow has been bothering Gott, but he was blasted for eight runs in three innings this spring. He had still been in the late-inning bullpen picture for the Athletics but instead will miss the entire 2024 campaign and will become a free agent this offseason.
