Michael Chavis - Starting rehab assignment ThursdayChavis (elbow) is in the lineup Thursday for Triple-A Indianapolis, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ImpactThe 26-year-old has been out since Aug. 28 with an elbow strain but is expected to return to the majors soon. His rehab assignment is expected to carry through at least the weekend, setting him up to be activated at some point next week. The second baseman has appeared in six games for the Pirates this season after being traded there at the deadline, posting a .364 batting average with three extra-base hits in 22 at-bats.

Connor Overton - Three scoreless frames in debutOverton held the Reds scoreless across three innings during Thursday's no-decision. He allowed two hits and a walk while striking out three.
ImpactIt was a strong debut for the 28-year-old, who has yet to allow a run through his first 10.2 innings at the major-league level. As expected, Overton took on a light load for his first start, tossing 42 pitches (31 for strikes) over three frames. The right-hander will look to get further stretched out during his next outing, which projects for a rematch with Cincinnati on the road next week.
