Austin Dean - Outrighted to Triple-ADean cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
ImpactDean was designated for assignment by San Francisco last week but will stick around the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. The 28-year-old will remain in big-league camp as a non-roster invitee but doesn't have a realistic chance to make the Opening Day roster.

Matthew Boyd - Shifts to 60-day ILBoyd (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list Sunday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
ImpactBoyd underwent flexor tendon surgery on his left elbow in September and isn't expected to be ready for game action until June, so it's not much of a surprise he'll open the season on the 60-day IL. The 31-year-old had a 3.89 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 67:23 K:BB over 78.2 innings for Detroit last season, and he'll be in the mix for a rotation spot with San Francisco after inking a one-year, $5.2 million deal in mid-March.

Luke Williams - Headed to GiantsWilliams was traded from the Phillies to the Giants in exchange for Will Toffey on Sunday.
ImpactWilliams was recently designated for assignment by the Phillies, so he'll have the chance for a change of scenery with this trade. He reached the majors for the first time in his career in 2021 and managed a .245/.315/.316 line across 108 plate appearances. Williams is likely to start the season at Triple-A, though the Giants may have a need for right-handed bats in the outfield at some point in the 2022 campaign.

Cristian Santana - Sent to minorsSantana was reassigned to minor-league camp Sunday.
ImpactSantana was a non-roster invitee in spring training, and he collected four hits across 10 plate appearances before being reassigned. He has yet to make his major-league debut but may get that chance in 2022 considering the lengthy injury history of Mike Moustakas (shoulder).
MARCH 27, 2022ROTOWIRE
Sam Delaplane - Throwing bullpen sessionsDelaplane (elbow) is scheduled to throw bullpen sessions twice weekly as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
ImpactDelaplane is still likely months away from getting back into game action after his Tommy John surgery in April of 2021. The right-hander was non-tendered by the Giants but signed a minor-league contract in December to remain with the organization. He will likely begin his season at Triple-A Sacramento once healthy.
MARCH 27, 2022ROTOWIRE
Jakob Junis - Makes spring debutJunis (shoulder) pitched a perfect inning and struck out two in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Reds.
ImpactJunis worked the ninth inning with little trouble in his spring debut. The right-hander has worked as a starter for much of his five-year MLB career, but the Giants' rotation is likely set with Junis on the outside looking in. He should be expected to work in a multi-inning role out of the bullpen. The 29-year-old had a 5.26 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 41:12 K:BB across 39.1 innings in 16 appearances (six starts) with the Royals last year.
