Colin Moran - Avoids concussionMoran isn't dealing with a concussion after exiting Saturday's game against St. Louis with a head injury, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ImpactMoran left the game after colliding with Dylan Carlson. He didn't start Sunday's series finale, but he isn't an everyday starter, so it's unclear to what extent his absence is injury-related.

Jordan Hicks - Bullpen session goes wellHicks (forearm) felt "great" after a 25-pitch bullpen session Sunday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
ImpactHicks has been sidelined with a flexor injury since late May. He doesn't have a precise return date, but he's trending in the right direction. He still has several steps to go before returning from the injured list, however, especially as he wasn't quite throwing at his full velocity for most of Sunday's session.

Nick Lodolo - Rehab start SundayLodolo (back) will pitch in a rehab game at the Reds complex in Arizona on Monday and from there he will move his rehab assignment to Triple-A, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati...
ImpactGiven this timeline, Lodolo will head to Durham to meet Triple-A Louisville in advance of a potential rehab start next weekend. Lodolo could require multiple rehab starts at Triple-A, but that's to be determined.

Matthew Liberatore - Returning TuesdayLiberatore will be recalled to start the first half of Sunday's doubleheader against the Pirates, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
ImpactLiberatore has made one strong start and two poor ones thus far in his brief big-league career, giving him a 5.54 ERA and 10:8 K:BB overall. His major-league debut came against the Pirates in late May and was one of those poor outings, as he allowed four runs on seven hits across 4.2 frames, but his prospect pedigree suggests that better results should be coming soon.

Zack Thompson - First career start coming MondayThompson will make his first career start Monday against the Pirates, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
ImpactThompson made his big-league debut Friday against the Cubs, allowing one run across four innings of relief work. The extent to which Monday's opportunity is an audition for a permanent rotation role isn't entirely clear, as the Cardinals needed an extra starter ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader and will be getting Jack Flaherty back from his shoulder injury fairly soon. That said, the 2019 first-round pick comes with a fair amount of prospect pedigree and struck out 30.1 percent of the batters he faced across 10 starts for Triple-A Memphis this season, so it's very possible he makes his case to remain in the rotation.

Tyler O'Neill - Drives in three in winO'Neill went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and three RBI in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Reds.
ImpactIn five games since returning from a shoulder injury, O'Neill is 7-for-19 (.368) with a home run, a double and six RBI. He got the Cardinals on the board with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning Saturday before adding a two-run double in the eighth. While he's still slashing a meager .219/.273/.336 in 37 contests overall, his recent hitting suggests he's trending in the right direction, which should allow him to command a starting role in left field.

Nick Wittgren - Snags win SaturdayWittgren (1-0) allowed a hit in a scoreless inning to earn the win Saturday over the Reds.
ImpactWittgren kept the deficit to one run in the top of the ninth inning, and Tommy Edman walked it off for the Cardinals in the bottom of the frame. Despite allowing nine runs, 14 hits and five walks in his last nine innings, Wittgren has picked up a save and a win in his two scoreless outings in that span without taking any losses or blown saves. The right-hander has a 5.79 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 11:10 K:BB in 23.1 innings overall, so he'll likely be limited to middle relief -- he hasn't picked up a hold since May 2.
