Jake Woodford - Optioned to FCLThe Cardinals optioned Woodford to the Florida Complex League on Saturday.
ImpactAfter giving up seven runs in 1.2 frames during his last start Friday, Woodford will be cast off the active roster in favor of James Naile, who will give the Cardinals additional bullpen depth for their final two games. Woodford will finish 2023 with a 6.23 ERA and 1.74 WHIP through 47.2 innings -- both sharp increases from his 2.23 ERA and 1.12 WHIP last season.

James Naile - Recalled from MemphisThe Cardinals recalled Naile from Triple-A Memphis on Saturday.
ImpactNaile will take the place of Jake Woodford, who was optioned to the Florida Complex League in a corresponding move. Naile was decent in the minors this season but has struggled mightily in the majors, surrendering 15 runs over 15.1 innings. He will likely be limited to low-leverage outings while with St. Louis.

Tyler Stephenson - Blasts 13th homerStephenson went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run in Friday's 19-2 win over St. Louis.
ImpactStephenson's 13th home run of the season was the Reds' third of the fourth inning and sixth and final long ball of the night, leaving the team one shy of matching a single-game franchise record. Though the Reds are one of the few teams in baseball still competing for a playoff spot in the final series of the regular season, Stephenson isn't necessarily a lock to start behind the dish Saturday and Sunday. He and Luke Maile have been splitting work at catcher of late, with the latter starting four games to Stephenson's three over the past seven contests.

Noelvi Marte - Smacks second homer in blowout winMarte went 2-for-5 with a solo home run -- his second of the season -- and an additional RBI in Friday's 19-2 win over St. Louis.
ImpactMarte slugged one of six Reds home runs on the night, one shy of matching the franchise single-game record. Cincinnati was able to keep its faint hopes for a wild-card spot alive with the win, and Marte has been an integral contributor to the team's postseason push. The 21-year-old rookie has recorded at least one hit in 14 of his last 15 starts and is slashing .357/.400/.471 in September.

He's hit safely in 12 of the last 13 games, going 16-for-49 (.327) with nine extra-base hits, eight RBI and seven runs scored. The home run was Steer's 23rd over 155 games.
