Will Benson - Three hits, steal in lossBenson went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run scored in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Cardinals.
ImpactBenson went 7-for-16 with four steals across his last five games of the season. The outfielder was able to play semi-regularly in 2023, holding down a strong-side platoon role. He posted a .275/.365/.498 slash line with 11 home runs, 19 steals, 31 RBI, 51 runs scored, 15 doubles and eight triples across 329 plate appearances in his first year with the Reds.

Nick Martini - Smacks leadoff homerMartini went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Cardinals.
ImpactMartini led off the game with a homer on Miles Mikolas' third pitch. Martini had a couple of bursts in 2023, including going 6-for-12 with two homers over his last four games of the season. The 33-year-old ends the campaign with a .264/.329/.583 slash line, six homers, 16 RBI, 10 runs scored, three doubles and a triple over 79 plate appearances in his first major-league action since 2021.

Hunter Greene - Allows four runs in lossGreene (4-7) surrendered four runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out six over five innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Cardinals.
ImpactThe Cardinals tagged him for one run in the second inning and three more in the third, and that was enough for Greene to take the loss. The right-hander allowed 16 runs (15 earned) over 26.2 innings across his last five starts of the campaign. He finished the year with a 4.82 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 152:48 K:BB through 112 innings across 22 starts. It's a small step back from his 4.44 ERA in 125.2 innings in 2022. The hard-throwing 24-year-old is still likely to feature in the Reds' rotation in 2024, but he could still benefit from further developing his changeup to improve his arsenal -- opposing hitters slugged .500 against that pitch and .515 on his fastball in 2023.
OCTOBER 2, 2023ROTOWIRE
Andrew Suárez - Mediocre returns in 2023Suarez pitched to a 7.16 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 17:15 K:BB over 27.2 innings this season.
ImpactSuarez stayed in the Cardinals' bullpen after the trade deadline left the pitching staff depleted. He maintained scoreless outings just three times in 13 appearances as a long reliever in his first major-league action since he appeared in six games with the Giants in 2020. Suarez hasn't recorded a save or hold since 2019, and at 31 years old, his major-league future is likely cloudy at best.
OCTOBER 2, 2023ROTOWIRE
Jordan Walker - Three hits in season finaleWalker went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Reds.
ImpactWalker was held hitless in just five of his last 27 games this season, batting .304 (31-for-102) from the start of September onward. The rookie didn't fully live up to expectations, but he performed well with a .276/.342/.445 slash line, 16 home runs, 51 RBI, 51 runs scored and seven stolen bases across 117 games. Walker's defense in right field remains a work in progress, something he'll likely focus on ahead of 2024. He should be penciled into a starting role once again next year.
OCTOBER 2, 2023ROTOWIRE
Tommy Edman - Adds another stealEdman went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Reds.
ImpactEdman had multiple hits in six of his last nine games this season, picking up three steals while batting .371 (13-for-35) in that span. The utility man's production fell short of previous years in many areas, but his ability to seamlessly move between the middle infield and center field helped smooth things over in a difficult year for the Cardinals. He ends the campaign with a .248/.307/.399 slash line, 13 home runs, 27 steals in 31 attempts, 47 RBI and 69 runs scored across 137 contests.

Cardinals' end-of-season message is simple: 'We cannot repeat what happened this year'Oli Marmol welcomes the scrutiny after a bad season. "If we’re not competing for a championship next year, we’ve made a mistake."
