Connor Gillispie - Sent back to Triple-A The Guardians returned Gillispie to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

Impact Gillespie was sent back to Columbus after he served as the 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader with the Diamondbacks, only to go unused in both ends of the twin bill. The Guardians have another doubleheader on tap Friday versus the Twins, but Joey Cantillo was called up from Triple-A to serve as the 27th man this time around.

Angel Martínez - Sent to Triple-A The Guardians optioned Martinez to Triple-A Columbus on Friday.

Impact The 22-year-old had operated as Cleveland's primary center fielder, but he'll head back to the minors after posting a .236/.306/.373 slash line in 31 games. Will Brennan was recalled in a corresponding move, but it'll likely be a combination of Lane Thomas and Tyler Freeman that take over in center field.

Peter Strzelecki - Rejoins major-league club The Guardians recalled Strzelecki from Triple-A Columbus on Friday.

Impact Strzelecki has allowed one run on five hits while striking out five across 4.2 innings during his time with Cleveland this season. He'll give the bullpen a fresh arm.

Will Brennan - Recalled from Triple-A The Guardians recalled Brennan from Triple-A Columbus on Friday.

Impact He's taking the roster spot vacated by Angel Martinez, who has been optioned back to Columbus. Brennan posted a .992 OPS in nine games with Columbus after being sent down late last month. He could see some action in right field versus righties if the Guardians elect to use Lane Thomas in center more often.

Joey Cantillo - Promoted for Game 1 start The Guardians recalled Cantillo from Triple-A Columbus to start Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the Twins.

Impact The left-hander will serve as the 27th man for the twin bill, so he's likely to return to Columbus after the spot start. Cantillo recently made his first two major-league starts and allowed six runs with a 7:3 K:BB across 7.1 innings.

Carlos Carrasco - Out with hip strain The Guardians placed Carrasco on the 15-day injured list Friday due to a left hip strain.

Impact The 37-year-old presumably suffered the injury during his start against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, during which he allowed four runs across 4.1 innings. Carrasaco will be eligible to be reinstated Aug. 23, but it's unclear how long he's expected to be sidelined.

David Fry - Swats homer in second game Fry went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a 5-3 loss to the Diamondbacks in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Impact Fry didn't play in the first game, but he started at first base in the second contest. The homer was his second over six games in August after he had just one extra-base hit, a double, in all of July. The 28-year-old has cooled off dramatically since his hot start to the year, but he still has a .275/.375/.447 slash line with 10 homers, 39 RBI, 36 runs scored, four stolen bases and 14 doubles over 89 contests. Fry hasn't been strictly platooned, but he's not an everyday option versus right-handed pitchers.

Impact Naylor reached the 25-homer mark with his fifth-inning solo shot. The first baseman also played in the second game, going 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Naylor had some cold stretches in July, but he's gone 13-for-40 (.325) with five extra-base hits and 11 RBI over his last 11 contests. For the year, he's slashing .246/.326/.483 with 82 RBI, 65 runs scored, five stolen bases and 18 doubles over 106 games.

Impact Ramirez logged his 25th steal of the campaign in the first game, then followed it up with his 30th homer of the year in the second contest. The third baseman has reached the 30-homer mark for the third time in his career, having previously done it in 2018 and 2021. He's gone 16-for-40 (.400) with six homers over his last 11 contests, and he's slashing .282/.335/.548 with 96 RBI and 85 runs scored across 111 games this year.
