Ryan Ritter - Injured at Double-A Double-A Hartford placed Ritter on its 7-day injured list July 31 with an unspecified injury.

Impact The 23-year-old shortstop slashed .286/.389/.431 with six home runs and 17 stolen bases over 318 plate appearances for Hartford before being deactivated. It's unclear if Ritter will return to action at Double-A before Hartford's regular season ends Sept. 15.

Impact The 25-year-old right-hander will head to the big leagues for the first time after turning in a 6.24 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 83:28 K:BB over 57.2 innings with Albuquerque. He'll be joining the bullpen as a replacement for the injured Victor Vodnik (bicep) and will most likely be deployed in lower-leverage spots while he's up with the Rockies.

Victor Vodnik - Goes on IL with bicep issue The Rockies placed Vodnik on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right bicep inflammation.

Impact Dating back to the start of July, Vodnik had posted a 3.74 ERA while going 9-for-10 in save chances over 20 appearances to solidify himself as the Rockies' closer, but his shoulder injury now creates an opening at the back end of the bullpen. Tyler Kinley previously converted a save Aug. 1 and had collected holds in seven of his last nine appearances, so he would appear to be first in line to step in at closer as a replacement for Vodnik. A clear timeline for Vodnik's return hasn't been established, but the fact that he has been diagnosed with bicep inflammation rather than a strain could make him a candidate to return from the IL once his 15 days are up.

Jake Cave - Sitting again Wednesday Cave is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Impact The lefty-hitting Cave is on the bench for the third straight game, with the latter two absences coming against left-handed pitching. Even though Kris Bryant (back) recently returned to the injured list to open up a regular spot in right field, Cave may not be on track to handle a strong-side platoon role as the Rockies give a longer look to rookie Jordan Beck. Cave has been serviceable against right-handed pitching this season (96 wRC+, .324 wOBA), but he's a 31-year-old on an expiring contract who is unlikely to be prioritized by the non-contending Rockies down the stretch.

Jordan Beck - Emerging as lineup regular Beck will start in right field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Impact Beck will garner his seventh consecutive start Wednesday, with four coming against left-handed pitching and three coming versus righties. Though the left-handed-hitting Nolan Jones (back) returned from the injured list Sunday and should take back a strong-side platoon role in the corner outfield, Beck looks as though he could be prioritized over Sam Hilliard and Jake Cave at the other corner spot while Charlie Blackmon sees more time at designated hitter sans Kris Bryant (back). Beck has gone 6-for-19 with a 4:7 BB:K over his last six starts.

Drew Romo - Getting another start Wednesday Romo will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's contest versus the Nationals.

Impact Romo didn't start the Rockies' first game after being called up last Friday, but he's now been in the lineup for three of four contests since then and tallied his first major-league hit in Tuesday's game. Jacob Stallings still seems likely to play plenty, but if he or Romo winds up distinguishing themselves as far as playing time goes, it will likely be the switch-hitting rookie.

Drew Romo - Tallies first career hit Romo went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts Tuesday against the Nationals.

Impact Romo was called up to make his big-league debut Friday and has since made two starts. He collected his first big-league hit Tuesday, and he also notably was caught stealing. Romo had only three stolen bases with Triple-A Albuquerque prior to being recalled, but he did show an ability to steal bases in the lower levels of the minors. If he reintroduces stolen bases to his game at the big-league level, he could be an intriguing option in deeper leagues down the stretch.

Tyler Kinley - Could be in line for save chances Kinley allowed one hit and struck out one in a scoreless eighth inning to earn a hold Tuesday against the Nationals.

Impact Kinley entered the game with a 3-1 lead and continued his solid run since the All-Star break. In 16 games -- spanning 16.2 frames -- he's maintained a 1.62 ERA and 0.78 WHIP to go along with an 18:5 K:BB. Notably, Victor Vodnik (shoulder) was unavailable Tuesday night, and Kinley would likely be next in line for save chances should Vodnik remain sidelined.
