Impact One day after getting optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque, Rogers now finds himself off the Rockies' 40-man roster after Colorado claimed lefty Antoine Kelly off waivers from Texas in a corresponding move. Before his demotion, Rogers had made five appearances at the big-league level this season, giving up seven earned runs on 12 hits and two walks over 9.1 innings. Rogers will likely stick around with the Rockies as bullpen depth at Albuquerque if he clears waivers.

Antoine Kelly - Scooped up by Colorado The Rockies claimed Kelly off waivers from the Rangers on Monday.
Impact Colorado designated left-hander Josh Rogers for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Kelly, a 24-year-old southpaw who offers more long-term upside but has struggled mightily in the minors this season. Between stops with Triple-A Round Rock and Double-A Frisco, Kelly has posted a 9.35 ERA and 24:22 K:BB in 17.1 innings.

Germán Márquez - Rusty in season debut Marquez didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Mets, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks across four innings. He struck out three.
Impact Marquez made his first MLB start since April 26, 2023, after undergoing Tommy John Surgery. He threw 70 pitches before being pulled. The 28-year-old managed to keep the Mets off the scoreboard until the fourth frame, but was hit hard in the fourth. He allowed five of the first six batters he faced in the inning to reach safely, including a two-run home run to Pete Alonso. Marquez walked Francisco Lindor with the bases loaded for the Mets' third run, and was able to avoid further damage by getting Brandon Nimmo to ground out with the bases loaded and end the inning. Marquez has previously been a reliable fantasy option, but fantasy managers should proceed with caution considering the right-hander's lengthy absence. The Rockies will play six consecutive games at Coors Field coming out of the All-Star break, though it's unclear when exactly Marquez will pitch.

Victor Vodnik - Logs five-out save Vodnik picked up the save Sunday against the Mets, allowing two hits and a walk over 1.2 scoreless innings. He struck out two.
Impact Vodnik took over for Jalen Beeks midway through the eighth frame with one out and runners on second and third. Vodnik walked Francisco Lindor to load the bases and yielded an RBI fielder's choice to Brandon Nimmo before retiring Francisco Alvarez to close out the frame. Holding an 8-5 lead, Vodnik allowed a pair of singles, but logged back-to-back strikeouts to close out his second save of 2024. Vodnik has cashed in on both of his save opportunities in July, and with the Rockies' current closing situation up in the air, he could see an occasional save chance in the second half of 2024.

Ezequiel Tovar - Slugs pair of homers Tovar went 3-for-4 with two two-run home runs during Sunday's 8-5 win over the Mets.
Impact Tovar chipped in two of the Rockies' six long balls Sunday, launching two-run homers off Jose Quintana in the first inning and Adrian Houser in the seventh. After going hitless in 28 at-bats to start July, Tovar is 11-for-25 since, with three doubles, five RBI and four runs scored. Despite the cold spell, the 22-year-old is slashing .274/.302/.462 with 14 home runs, 46 runs, 42 RBI and four stolen bases at the All-Star break.

Michael Toglia - Goes yard thrice Toglia went 3-for-4 with three solo home runs during Sunday's 8-5 win over the Mets.
Impact Toglia notched his first career multi-homer game Sunday, launching solo homers in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings. The 25-year-old is batting .197 with 16 home runs across 50 games this season, but he's been significantly better since becoming a near-everyday player for Colorado at the start of June. In 36 games since then, he's batting .230 with 26 RBI, 20 runs and 12 homers.

Josh Rogers - Activated and optioned The Rockies reinstated Rogers (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Impact Rogers had been in the midst of a rehab assignment with Albuquerque and will remain with the Rockies' top affiliate even though he's made a full recovery from the left rotator cuff strain that resulted in his placement on the IL on June 17. The southpaw had posted a 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 9.1 innings over his five appearances out of the Colorado bullpen prior to landing on the IL.

Impact Chivilli was moved off the 26-man active roster to clear a spot for right-hander German Marquez (elbow), who was activated from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday versus the Mets. After being called up from Double-A on Saturday, Chivilli went unused out of the bullpen in the Rockies' 7-3 loss in the second game of the series.

Germán Márquez - Activated for first 2024 start The Rockies reinstated Marquez (elbow) from the 60-day injured list ahead of Sunday's game against the Mets.
Impact He'll pick up his first start of the season and his first in the big leagues since April 26, 2023 now that he's completed his recovery from Tommy John surgery. Marquez wrapped up his seven-start minor-league rehab assignment on a high note Tuesday, when he struck out eight and allowed three runs on four hits and no walks over five innings for Double-A Hartford. Marquez will likely be capped at around 75 to 90 pitches in his 2024 Rockies debut, but he shouldn't face any major workload restrictions in his subsequent outings. During his last full season in the big leagues in 2022, Marquez turned in a 4.95 ERA and 1.37 WHIP while striking out 150 batters in 181.2 innings, so fantasy managers outside of deep leagues are probably best off taking a wait-and-see approach with the right-hander rather than immediately scooping him up off the waiver wire.
