Josh Rogers - Activated and optioned The Rockies reinstated Rogers (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Impact Rogers had been in the midst of a rehab assignment with Albuquerque and will remain with the Rockies' top affiliate even though he's made a full recovery from the left rotator cuff strain that resulted in his placement on the IL on June 17. The southpaw had posted a 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 9.1 innings over his five appearances out of the Colorado bullpen prior to landing on the IL.

Angel Chivilli - Sent to Double-A The Rockies optioned Chivilli to Double-A Hartford on Sunday.

Impact Chivilli was moved off the 26-man active roster to clear a spot for right-hander German Marquez (elbow), who was activated from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday versus the Mets. After being called up from Double-A on Saturday, Chivilli went unused out of the bullpen in the Rockies' 7-3 loss in the second game of the series.

Germán Márquez - Activated for first 2024 start The Rockies reinstated Marquez (elbow) from the 60-day injured list ahead of Sunday's game against the Mets.

Impact He'll pick up his first start of the season and his first in the big leagues since April 26, 2023 now that he's completed his recovery from Tommy John surgery. Marquez wrapped up his seven-start minor-league rehab assignment on a high note Tuesday, when he struck out eight and allowed three runs on four hits and no walks over five innings for Double-A Hartford. Marquez will likely be capped at around 75 to 90 pitches in his 2024 Rockies debut, but he shouldn't face any major workload restrictions in his subsequent outings. During his last full season in the big leagues in 2022, Marquez turned in a 4.95 ERA and 1.37 WHIP while striking out 150 batters in 181.2 innings, so fantasy managers outside of deep leagues are probably best off taking a wait-and-see approach with the right-hander rather than immediately scooping him up off the waiver wire.

Ezequiel Tovar - Breaking out of slump Tovar went 2-for-4 with a double Saturday against the Mets.

Impact Tovar began July with seven consecutive hitless starts, though he now has a five-game hitting streak. His production has been largely empty, as across his last five games he has gone 8-for-21 with three extra-base hits, one RBI and two runs scored. Even with the slower production of late, Tovar has had a solid season, showing improvement in his OPS, ISO and batting average relative to 2023.

Charlie Blackmon - Goes deep again Saturday Blackmon went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.

Impact Blackmon brought the Rockies to within a run with his two-run blast in the fifth frame, but that was the last time Colorado was able to score. The homer was Blackmon's second in as many games since returning from a hamstring injury that resulted in him sitting out three matchups. The veteran outfielder had gone deep just twice over his previous 26 games prior to leaving the park in back-to-back contests.

Ryan Feltner - Issues five walks in defeat Feltner (1-9) took the loss against the Mets on Saturday, allowing four runs (three earned) on two hits and five walks while striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings.

Impact Feltner had trouble finding the striking zone, as the five walks were two more than his previous season high. Three of the free passes came in the second frame, which was when the Mets scored all four of their runs against him. Feltner did at least manage to register seven punchouts, but he couldn't avoid his ninth loss of the campaign. Among NL pitchers, only teammate Dakota Hudson has lost more games, and Feltner has been mostly ineffective with a 5.36 ERA and 1.45 WHIP across 102.1 innings.

Angel Chivilli - Back with big-league club The Rockies recalled Chivilli from Double-A Hartford on Saturday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Impact Chivilli got his first major-league opportunity in June but struggled with an 8.44 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 5.1 innings. He served up three long balls and struck out only two batters, though he didn't walk anybody. Chivilli has shown better success with a 2.49 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB across 25.1 frames at Double-A this season. He'll likely serve in a low-leverage bullpen role while with the big club.

Sean Bouchard - Returns to majors The Rockies recalled Bouchard from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Impact Bouchard's opportunity to return to the big-league club comes as a result of Nolan Jones (back) landing on the 10-day injured list. Bouchard has spent much of the season with Colorado, slashing .200/.307/.318 with a home run, eight RBI and four steals over 102 plate appearances. He was sent down to the minors in late June after battling a back injury and hit .357 with a long ball, seven RBI and a steal across seven contests prior to being recalled.

Nolan Jones - Goes on IL due to back strain Colorado placed Jones (back) on the 10-day injured list Saturday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Impact Jones was scratched from Friday's starting lineup with what has subsequently been deemed a low-back strain. The outfielder's placement on the 10-day IL is retroactive to July 12, so he'll be eligible to return for the series opener against Boston on the first Monday after the All-Star break. The Rockies recalled outfielder Sean Bouchard from Triple-A as part of a set of additional moves.

Tanner Gordon - Sent down to minors The Rockies optioned Gordon to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Impact Gordon was demoted after surrendering four homers while giving up six runs over three-plus innings against the Mets on Friday. The right-hander has yielded a total of 11 earned runs over 9.1 frames across his first two major-league starts and will get a chance to reset at Triple-A. Colorado also placed Nolan Jones (back) on the IL on Saturday while recalling outfielder Sean Bouchard and reliever Angel Chivilli from the minors. Gordon's short-lived spot in the big-league rotation will be assumed by German Marquez, who is set to return from the injured list to make his season debut Sunday.

Germán Márquez - Returning Sunday Marquez (elbow) will be reinstated from the 60-day injured list to start Sunday's game against the Mets, The Denver Post reports.

Impact Sunday will mark Marquez's first time pitching in the majors since undergoing Tommy John surgery in May 2023. The 29-year-old has made six rehab starts since mid-June, during which he posted a 6.23 ERA and 1.50 WHIP alongside a 23:4 K:BB through 17.1 innings between each of Colorado's minor-league affiliates. He's expected to throw 75-to-90 pitches during his season debut and will be matched up against a New York offense that ranks third in the NL with a .742 OPS.

Blackmon missed the prior three games with a sore hamstring, but he looked healthy in his return as the DH. The blast was his second long ball through eight games in July, and his fifth of the year.

Impact His seventh-inning shot off Sean Manaea kicked off a late rally for the Rockies that fell just short. It was Rodgers' first homer in July, and only his second extra-base hit -- the 27-year-old infielder is slashing just .209/.277/.302 through 11 games on the month with two RBI and five runs.
