Nolan Jones - Hitting bench Monday Jones is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.
Impact The lefty-hitting Jones will retreat to the bench for the series opener in Cincinnati while southpaw Andrew Abbott takes the hill for the Reds. Hunter Goodman will get the start in left field in place of Jones, who is getting on base at a .355 clip but has provided few counting statistics (two home runs, one stolen base, seven RBI, six runs) in his 21 games since he returned from the injured list in mid-June.

Jake Cave - Sitting against lefty Cave is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.
Impact The lefty-hitting Cave will retreat to the bench for the series opener in Cincinnati after he had started in four of the Rockies' previous five contests. With southpaw Andrew Abbott on the bump for the Reds, Cave will cede his spot in the lineup to the right-handed-hitting Aaron Schunk, who will get the start at third base while Ryan McMahon serves as the Rockies' designated hitter.

Reds host the Rockies on home losing streak

Tanner Gordon - Rollercoaster MLB debut Gordon (0-1) took the loss Sunday against Kansas City, allowing five runs on eight hits and no walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out four.
Impact While the 26-year-old's final stat line wasn't very encouraging, Gordon showed plenty of positive signs after yielding four runs - including a three-run home run to Maikel Garcia - in the second inning. Gordon rebounded from the nightmare inning by retiring 11 consecutive batters. He was able to pitch into the seventh inning, but was pulled after 78 pitches following MJ Melendez's solo homer and Garcia's bunt single. Assuming Sunday's outing was enough to earn another start, Gordon would be in line to face the Mets in New York next weekend.

Aaron Schunk - First career hit Schunk went 1-for-3 Sunday against the Royals.
Impact Schunk was in the lineup for only the third time since being recalled June 8. Two of his starts have come at third base and one at second. He took advantage of his opportunity Sunday by tallying his first big-league hit in the third inning, looping the ball into center field.

Sean Bouchard - Overcomes back issue Bouchard (back) has gone 5-for-11 with two doubles, three walks, four runs and one RBI in three games for Triple-A Albuquerque since the Rockies optioned him June 29.
Impact Before he was optioned to Albuquerque, Bouchard was contending with a back injury, but he has since overcome the health concern. The 28-year-old should continue to play at least semi-regularly at the Triple-A level and will look to perform well enough to earn another look with the Rockies later this season.

Brendan Rodgers - Out of Sunday's lineup Rodgers is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.
Impact Rodgers is hitting .348 in July but will sit Sunday after starting the previous six games. Aaron Shunk will start at the keystone and bat ninth in the series finale versus Kansas City.

Elias Díaz - Not in Sunday's lineup Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.
Impact The 33-year-old started all seven games since he returned from the injured list last weekend, though he's still experienced a bit of tightness in his calf since being activated and hasn't pushed himself while running the bases. There's been no report that Diaz has further aggravated the injury, so his absence from the lineup Sunday is likely just a maintenance day. Jacob Stallings is receiving a turn behind the plate in the series finale.

Dakota Hudson - DFA'd by Colorado The Rockies designated Hudson for assignment Sunday.
Impact The right-hander joined Colorado on a one-year, $1.5 million contract in January but struggled to a 5.84 ERA, 1.64 WHIP a 48:46 K:BB through 17 starts. Hudson also had a 4.98 ERA in 18 outings last season, so he may not generate significant interest on the waiver wire.

Tanner Gordon - Contract selected for MLB debut The Rockies selected Gordon's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque, and he'll start Sunday's game against the Royals.
Impact The 26-year-old hasn't pitched particularly well for Triple-A Albuquerque this year with a 5.35 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB over 33.2 innings, but he'll still receive a look in Colorado's rotation. Dakota Hudson was designated for assignment in a corresponding move, so there's an opening for multiple starts if Gordon showcases himself well in his major-league deubt.

Victor Vodnik - Collects first save Vodnik picked up the save over the Royals on Saturday, allowing one hit and one walk over one inning while striking out one.
Impact Vodnik entered the contest with a two-run lead in the ninth and got Salvador Perez to go down on strikes before allowing two of the next three men to reach. The right-handed reliever was able to escape the jam, however, and secure his first save of the campaign. Vodnik had blown each of his previous two save attempts this season coming in but has now recorded a win and a save in his last two appearances. He's also recorded at least one strikeout in seven consecutive outings.

Austin Gomber - Strong performance in second win Gomber (2-5) picked up the win over the Royals on Saturday, allowing one run on six hits over seven innings while striking out three.
Impact Gomber managed to keep Kansas City's offense at bay throughout the contest, with the exception of a solo home run that he surrendered to Vinnie Pasquantino in the top of the sixth. The lefty allowed just two extra-base hits over his seven innings of work and didn't walk a batter for the third consecutive start. He's now gone at least five innings in four straight outings, though he's also given up six or more hits in three straight. Saturday actually marked the first time since May 22 that Gomber didn't surrender multiple runs (span of six starts).

Ryan Feltner - Start pushed to Cincinnati series Feltner is no longer scheduled to pitch Sunday against the Royals at Coors Field and is expected to make his next start during the Rockies' upcoming four-game series in Cincinnati,...
Impact Tanner Gordon will be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Sunday's game, while Feltner will presumably be pushed back just one day in the pitching schedule to start Monday's series opener in Cincinnati. According to Skyler Timmins of PurpleRow.com, manager Bud Black said the decision to push back Feltner in the pitching schedule was in part due to his stronger numbers on the road (4.65 ERA in 50.1 innings) compared to at Coors Field (6.75 ERA in 41.1 innings) in addition to the fact that the Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio native will have family and friends in attendance for the Cincinnati series. Assuming Feltner takes the hill Monday or Tuesday against the Reds, he'll tentatively line up for a two-start week, with his second turn set to come next weekend in New York against the Mets.
