Set to return from IL next week Dunning (ankle) is in line to return from the 15-day injured list to start the Rangers' game in Seattle on Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.
Impact Dunning was placed on the IL on July 11 with a right ankle impingement, but he'll end up spending the minimum amount of time on the shelf due to the injury. The right-hander is scheduled to make a rehab start Thursday for the Rangers' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate, and assuming he comes out of that outing unscathed, he shouldn't face any major workload restrictions in his return to the Texas rotation next week. Before being shut down prior to the All-Star break, Dunning went 1-6 with a 4.42 ERA and 84:37 K:BB in 95.2 innings over his 18 starts.

Sidelined with ankle impingement The Rangers placed Dunning on the 15-day injured list Monday with a right ankle impingement, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Impact Left-hander Kolby Allard was summoned from Triple-A Round Rock to join the 26-man active roster as a replacement for Dunning, who presumably picked up the injury at some point during his start Sunday against the Twins. With 17 walks in 30.1 innings over his last six starts, Dunning had been struggling mightily with his control of late, so the time off due to what's believed to be a minor injury could give him the chance to workshop some mechanical tweaks. He won't be eligible for activation from the IL on July 26, meaning he'll miss at least two turns through the rotation even with the All-Star break coming next week.

Impact Dunning avoided a loss as the Rangers' offense kept the game close, but this was his third start of less than five innings in his last seven outings. He was inefficient, throwing 38 of 66 pitches for strikes as he struggled to scrape together seven outs.
