Impact Dunning made a career-high 29 starts for the Rangers in 2022, and he posted a 4.46 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 153.1 innings. However, his season will be cut short due to his hip procedure. The right-hander's recovery timetable hasn't been determined, but the Rangers hope that he'll be ready for Opening Day in 2023.

Impact The night got off to a rough start for Dunning as Taylor Ward tagged him for a two-run home run in the first inning, but he settled in nicely after that point. He surrendered just one hit and did not allow a run over the next four innings on his way to his fourth win. Dunning had looked shaky in his previous seven starts, recording a 5.97 ERA and 1.76 WHIP through 34.2 innings in that stretch, so it was nice to see him get back on track. He will look to stay in the win column in his next scheduled start, which is tentatively scheduled against Seattle next week.

Impact Dunning was fine through four frames, yielding only one run on a second-inning homer. Things fell apart for him in the fifth, however, as he allowed four consecutive batters to reach base after notching two outs. The final three hitters he faced each recorded an extra-base hit, and Dunning ended up surrendering three runs in the frame. It was another disappointing outcome for the right-hander -- he has posted a 7.53 ERA, 2.02 WHIP and poor 12:8 K:BB over 14.1 innings through three starts in September.

Impact Dunning's only blemish came in the fourth inning when he allowed a two-out, two-run homer to Sheldon Neuse, which tied the game at 2-2. However, he got plenty of run support from the Rangers' offense and cruised to his third win of the season. The right-hander has been solid over his last nine starts (48 innings), allowing three or fewer earned runs in eight of those contests. Dunning also issued three free passes as he labored through his 22nd start of the year. The 27-year-old right-hander needed 101 pitches to get through just 4.1 innings. Dunning has a 2.2 K/BB to go along with 4.12 ERA in 118 innings pitched this season. He is tentatively expected to make his next start in a favorable matchup at home against the Athletics.
