Jonathan Schoop - May sit against most righties Schoop will start against lefties this season but is only expected to start "sporadically" against righties according to manager A.J. Hinch, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Impact Schoop's day off in the second game of the season Saturday against Zach Eflin and the Rays looks like it may be significant. If Schoop ends up merely filling the small side of a platoon at the keystone, Zach McKinstry would stand to benefit.

Impact Schoop started against lefty Shane McClanahan on Opening Day, going 0-for-2 with a walk and two strikeouts. With righty Zach Eflin on the mound for the second game of the year, Zach McKinstry takes over at the keystone. It's possible that implies Schoop could be stuck on the short side of a platoon this season - arguably a deserved outcome for a player who hit .202/.239/.322 last year - but it may simply be the case that the Tigers want to make sure everybody gets some at-bats in the first few games.

Tyler Nevin - Starting rehab assignment Nevin (oblique) is beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Impact Nevin is eligible for activation on April 8 and would seem to have a good shot to be ready at that time. He could see a lot of playing time for the Tigers at third base against lefties.

Dillon Paulson - Traded to Tigers The Tigers acquired Paulson from the Rays in exchange for cash considerations, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Impact It's the second time he's been traded, as Paulson also went from the Dodgers to the Rays back in December of 2020 as part of a three-team deal which sent Jose Alvarado to the Phillies. The 25-year-old hasn't played much the last two seasons due to an ACL tear.

Impact Meadows had half of Detroit's hits as Shane McClanahan mostly cruised through the lineup. The Tigers may struggle all season to generate offense, which could limit the fantasy upside of Meadows. Still, it's good to see the outfielder get off to a strong start, and he may be able to move up in the order in short order after hitting sixth on Thursday.

Impact Rodriguez pitched decently but he was outdueled by Shane McClanahan in a 4-0 defeat for the Tigers. This may be an issue all year for the lefty, as Detroit is expected to have a fairly weak offensive attack. Rodriguez still may post solid ratios and rack up strikeouts, though he could struggle to earn many wins. He's lined up to make his second start Wednesday against a tough Houston squad.
