Casey Mize - Nearing throwing program Mize (elbow) hopes to begin a throwing program this weekend or early next week, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Impact Mize made a rehab start at Triple-A Toledo but returned to Lakeland afterward to slow down his rehab program. The right-hander has been limited to plyo throws since heading to Lakeland, so he'll presumably need some time to build back up once he resumes his throwing program. While manager A.J. Hinch is encouraged that Mize is feeling good after slowing down his rehab program, the team won't have a better idea of the righty's status until he begins his throwing program.

Victor Reyes - Resumes running Manager A.J. Hinch said Thursday that Reyes (quadriceps) has resumed running, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
Impact Reyes landed on the 10-day injured list with a right quadriceps strain May 16, and he'll spend more than the minimum amount of time on the shelf. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to game action or whether he'll require a rehab assignment prior to rejoining the Tigers.

Impact The 24-year-old wasn't believed to be dealing with an additional injury despite covering only 1.2 innings during Tuesday's rehab start, but he's now been shut down for the "foreseeable future." Impact Making his first start of the season, Garcia held his own while he was in there, and his team pulled away in the 10th inning for the 4-2 win. It was the righty's first start at the MLB level since 2020, when he made two starts for Detroit. Garcia has otherwise worked as a reliever the past three seasons, and he's had some success this year with a 3.00 ERA and 0.83 WHIP overall. With Eduardo Rodriguez (ribcage) recently hitting the injured list, Garcia may be able to stick in the rotation, especially with Matt Manning (shoulder), Casey Mize (elbow), Michael Pineda (finger) and Tyler Alexander (elbow) all also out. Garcia is currently slated to face the Twins again in his next projected start Monday.

Impact Candelario picked a good time for his only hit of the game, launching his fourth home run of the season in the 10th inning to put the Tigers up 4-2.
