Elvin Rodriguez - Settles down after shaky start Rodriguez allowed four runs on four hits across five innings and did not factor into the decision Monday against the Twins. He walked three and struck out four.

Impact Making his first career MLB start, Rodriguez got into a hole early, as he allowed a first-inning grand slam to Max Kepler with just one out. The 24-year-old turned things around, however, and allowed only one more hit following the grand slam while retiring 14 additional batters. Rodriguez is currently slated to toe the rubber again Saturday against Cleveland, and if he can avoid big mistakes in the early going, he might be able to turn in a better overall line and possibly pick up his first win in the majors.

Jonathan Schoop - Productive in Monday loss Schoop went 2-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and two runs scored in Monday's loss to the Twins.

Impact It's been a struggle this season for Schoop, who is still batting just .169 with a .501 OPS, though he had a nice game at one of his former home ballparks, Target Field. This was the veteran's first multi-hit effort since May 10 and just his third overall this year. Perhaps the extra-base knocks will start to get Schoop going at the plate.

Eduardo Rodriguez - Tests show no stress reaction Rodriguez underwent tests on his ribs Monday which didn't reveal any stress reaction, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Impact The tests seemingly confirm that Rodriguez's diagnosis will be limited to a sprained left rib cage. He'll avoid throwing this week but is expected to resume next week. Given that he'll still need some time to build his arm back up, it seems unlikely that a minimum-length stay on the injured list is in play, though the Tigers have yet to clarify his timeline.

Tarik Skubal - Completes side session Monday Skubal (shin) completed his between-starts bullpen session Monday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Impact Assuming Skubal's left shin isn't aching too much following the side session, he looks like he'll be good to go with few restrictions (if any) when his next turn in the rotation comes up Thursday at home versus the Guardians. Skubal's previous start over the weekend against the Guardians was cut short after he took a comebacker off the shin.

Impact Hutchison elected free agency after being designated for assignment by Detroit on May 13, but he rejoined the club less than a week later. The right-hander will pitch at Triple-A Toledo now that he's back in the organization.

Javier Báez - Homers in win Sunday Baez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Guardians.

Impact Baez also struck out twice in the contest, and it's been a bit of a choppy first season in Detroit. The shortstop is batting just .207 with a .575 OPS and three home runs through 31 games. This was also Baez's first long ball since April 26, but he's been a streaky performer at times in the past, so a hot streak could be just around the corner with Sunday perhaps serving as the jumping off point.

Impact Faedo had his Saturday start postponed due to inclement weather, so he had to wait an extra day before recording his first MLB win in his fourth career start.
