Impact Freeman entered the game batting .143 following a four-strikeout performance Tuesday, but he responded resoundingly by racking up eight total bases and registering his first home run Wednesday. The 30-year-old got the Braves on the board in the third inning with a two-run shot to right field and collected another RBI with a single in the sixth. With his four-hit effort, Freeman upped his average to a healthy .316.

Whiffs seven in no-decision Morton pitched five innings against the Braves on Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out seven. He did not factor in the decision.
Impact Morton's second start of the campaign was a marked improvement over his Opening Day outing in which he allowed six earned runs. The right-hander was hurt by a two-run home run off the bat of Freddie Freeman in the third inning, but he held Atlanta scoreless in each of his other four frames while throwing 55 of 80 pitches for strikes. Morton will aim for his first win of the campaign Tuesday in a home game against Boston.

The hard-throwing right-hander had a rather memorable frame, as he rang up swinging strikeouts of the trio of Ronald Acuna, Ozzie Albies and Freddie Freeman after allowing a leadoff single to Austin Jackson. The dominance over three of the most formidable bats in the Braves lineup underscores the upside of Fairbanks, who bounced back in fine form from having allowed an earned run on two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning to the Blue Jays in his first appearance of the season Saturday.

The 30-year-old was one of the most high-profile COVID-19 cases in MLB during the ramp-up to the season, and while it was great to see him recover quickly enough to be in the Opening Day lineup, the time lost is clearly affecting him. Freeman has gone just 2-for-14 through Atlanta's first five games with a single RBI.

Impact Despite a late start to summer camp due to COVID-19, Freeman was able to make the Opening Day roster and will presumably be in the three hole for Atlanta against Jacob deGrom on Friday. Freeman was open about his battle with COVID-19, telling FOX Sports that he prayed for his life at one point when his fever spiked to 104.5 degrees. Fortunately, Freeman now seems to be feeling back to his normal self, at least for the most part. He had three hits, including a homer and a double, in Monday's intrasquad game.
