Shows improvement Sunday Manager Charlie Montoyo said Springer (ankle) showed "good improvement" Sunday, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.
Impact Springer was held out of Sunday's lineup after he sustained a mild left ankle sprain Saturday, but he didn't require imaging since he showed progress in his recovery. The 31-year-old will have at least one additional day to recover since the Blue Jays have a scheduled day off Monday, and the team will re-evaluate his progress Tuesday ahead of the series opener in Washington.

Impact He left Saturday's game against the Mariners after suffering the injury trying to make a play at the center field wall. Springer was limping pretty badly as he exited the field, but reassured manager Charlie Montoyo "man, I'll be alright," according to Hae's report. Toronto has an off day Monday, so it's quite possible he will be held out of Sunday's lineup.

Impact He grabbed his left leg/ankle after running into the center field wall while attempting to make a play. It sounded like he was limping pretty badly as he exited the field, so this could be worse than a day-to-day situation.
