Deemed day-to-day by manager Manager Charlie Montoyo said after Monday's 8-0 win over the Yankees that Springer is day-to-day after sustaining a left knee contusion before exiting in the ninth inning, Kaitlyn... Impact Springer, who was serving as Toronto's designated hitter in the series opener, went 0-or-3 with a walk before departing from the game following his eighth-inning strikeout. Though he finished out his final plate appearance of the afternoon, he looked to be in pain after fouling a ball off his left knee. According to McGrath, Montoyo said the ball hit a part of Springer's knee that wasn't protected by padding, so the veteran could need at least one game to let the swelling and pain subside. Springer had been limited to a DH role since being activated from the 10-day injured list Aug. 30 after missing two-plus weeks with a Grade 1 left knee sprain.
