INJURIES

Not starting Thursday Heredia isn't starting Thursday's game against the Reds.
Impact Heredia should see a decent amount of at-bats early in the season while Ronald Acuna (knee) is sidelined, but he'll be out of the lineup for Opening Day. Adam Duvall will start in center field while Alex Dickerson serves as the designated hitter.

Starting Friday Heredia (hand) is starting in center field and batting eighth in Friday's Grapefruit League game against Minnesota.
Impact Heredia was hit by a pitch on the hand Wednesday against the Red Sox and sat out Thursday's contest, but he apparently avoided a serious injury and will quickly rejoin the lineup. The 31-year-old could see more action early in the season as Atlanta's fourth outfielder until Ronald Acuna (knee) receives full clearance to play the field.
APRIL 1, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Dealing with sore hand Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Thursday that Heredia is dealing with a sore hand, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
Impact Heredia seemingly avoided any structural damage to his hand after he was hit by a pitch in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox. Snitker termed Heredia's absence from the lineup Thursday against the Rays as a "rest day," so the 31-year-old stands a good chance of returning to action over the weekend.

Impact Heredia appeared to be in considerable pain after being hit by the pitch, and he was immediately removed from the game. It's not yet clear whether the issue will impact his availability for Opening Day.

Avoids arbitration with Atlanta Heredia agreed to a one-year, $1 million deal Tuesday, avoiding arbitration, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Impact Heredia played a minor role on Atlanta's championship team, hitting a modest .220/.311/.354 in 347 plate appearances. Given his ability to handle center field, that line is enough to keep him around in a bench role, especially as his right-handed bat makes him a natural platoon partner for Joc Pederson.

Back to bench after five starts Heredia isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.
Impact Though Heredia started in each of past five games and is typically included in the lineup versus opposing lefty pitchers like the Yankees' Andrew Heaney, he'll head to the bench while manager Brian Snitker turns to the lefty-hitting Joc Pederson in center field. Heredia probably didn't help his case for sticking in the starting nine by going 1-for-19 over the past five games.

Fourth straight start Heredia will start in center field and bat eighth Sunday against the Orioles.
Impact Heredia has 0-for-12 over the past three games, but he'll nonetheless pick up his fourth consecutive start in center field as Atlanta wraps up its series in Baltimore. He's mostly been the beneficiary of Atlanta having an extra lineup spot available due to the designated hitter, so expect Heredia's playing time to take a hit when the team begins a a five-game homestand during the upcoming week.

Launches fifth homer Heredia went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-6 win over Cincinnati.
Impact Heredia made his only hit in the contest count, as his two-run blast in the second inning helped Atlanta build an early lead. The long ball snapped a 38-game homerless drought for the outfielder, during which he hit only .197. The extended slump along with the trade-deadline acquisitions of Jorge Soler and Adam Duvall have knocked Heredia out of an everyday role -- Wednesday's start was his first Aug. 4.
