Drew Butera - Joins Houston on MiLB dealButera signed a minor-league contract with the Astros on Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ImpactButera has been with Triple-A Salt Lake in the Angels' organization, but he was released earlier in the day before signing with the Astros. Backup catcher Jason Castro (knee) recently landed on the injured list, so Butera should have a better chance of joining the big-league club with his new team..

The Houston Astros placed starting pitcher Zack Greinke and first baseman Taylor Jones on the injured list, citing health and safety protocols

Anthony Misiewicz - On-time activation expectedMisiewicz (forearm) is expected to come off the injured list when first eligible Saturday, the team's official site reports.
ImpactMisiewicz hit the IL on Saturday, but the move was made retroactive to Wednesday. That makes this coming Saturday the reliever's earliest possible activation date, which manager Scott Servais confirmed Misiewicz should be able to meet. The 26-year-old didn't allow an earned run in nine of his last 10 outings before going on the shelf, posting two holds during that span as well.

José Urquidy - Set to return this weekendManager Dusty Baker said that Urquidy will be activated to start in place of Zack Greinke (undisclosed) during the upcoming weekend series in San Diego, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com...
ImpactUrquidy was already trending toward being activated for a start during the series with the Friars, and now the skipper has confirmed that he'll take the ball at some point over the weekend with Greinke moving to the COVID-19 IL. Urquidy has been out since late June with right shoulder discomfort, but he pitched well prior to the injury, posting a 3.38 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 66:13 K:BB across 77.1 innings.

Josh James - Joins AstrosThe Astros activated James from their taxi squad Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ImpactThe hard-throwing righty hasn't allowed a run in 8.1 innings since joining Triple-A Sugar Land at the beginning of August and has a 13:1 K:BB in his eight appearances. Injuries have prevented James from making a big-league appearance this season, but he finally gets a spot on Houston's roster. Granted, he was likely a candidate to be called up when rosters expand Wednesday, but the COVID-19 injured list designations of Zack Greinke and Taylor Jones merited a spontaneous promotion Tuesday.

Justus Sheffield - Strong rehab relief effortSheffield (forearm) was credited with a hold in his most recent rehab appearance for Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday, firing a perfect seventh inning during which he recorded two strikeo...
ImpactSheffield's strong outing was not only in welcome contrast to a rocky effort against Salt Lake on Thursday, but it was flawless in that he threw all seven of his pitches for strikes. The left-hander will serve as a reliever for the Mariners when he's finally activated off the injured list, so his ability to thrive in such a role Sunday was an especially welcome sight.

Robel García - Added to active rosterThe Astros activated Garcia from their taxi squad Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ImpactGarcia has hit .204 with six doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI at Triple-A Sugar Land since being optioned Aug. 6. His big-league slash line of .151/.216/.208 this season doesn't exactly demand a call-up, but the COVID-19 injured list placements of Zack Greinke and Taylor Jones opened a couple 26-man spots on the eve of roster expansions.
