Reaches free agency The Blue Jays granted Lamb his release Wednesday after he cleared outright waivers.

Impact With all of Santiago Espinal, Cavan Biggio and Breyvic Valera returning from the injured list within the past week, the Blue Jays no longer had a need at third base for Lamb, who was designated for assignment Thursday. After going unclaimed off waivers, Lamb determined he was better off getting a head start on finding a new home in 2022 rather than sticking around as a member of the Toronto organization.

DFA'd Thursday Lamb was designated for assignment Thursday by the Blue Jays.

Impact The 30-year-old will either report to Triple-A Buffalo or be released. He had struggled to a .129 batting average in September while only hitting three extra-base hits in 31 at-bats. The move clears space for the return of Breyvic Valera from the COVID-related injured list Thursday.
