Will play in center in 2023 Marlins general manager Kim Ng told Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com on Friday that Chisolm will play center field in 2023.

Impact This news comes shortly after the Marlins acquired Luis Arraez from the Twins to become the Marlins' new second baseman. Chisholm certainly has the athleticism to handle the position, but there was some thought that the 24-year-old would play shortstop -- a position he has previous experience at -- with Arraez in town. He'll have eligibility in the middle infield to begin 2023 and should gain outfield eligibility not long into the season.

Team undecided on position Marlins general manager Kim Ng told Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald Thursday that the team is undecided on Chisholm's position for 2023.

Impact The trade of Miguel Rojas to the Dodgers could potentially free up Chisholm to move to his natural position at shortstop. However, he's not considered a strong defender there, so the club might ultimately keep him at second base and use Joey Wendle as their primary shortstop. That's if Wendle himself isn't also traded. Chisholm was limited to 60 games in 2022 due to back and knee issues but should enter spring training with a clean bill of health.

Played through torn meniscus Chisholm (back) underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Impact Chisholm sustained a stress fracture in his lower back in late July and had already been ruled out for the season, but he was apparently also playing through a knee injury this year. In spite of his procedure, the 24-year-old is still expected to be ready for spring training in 2023.
