Should begin light activity soon Chisholm (hamstring) is expected to begin a running progression and take part in light baseball activities this week, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Impact Since the Marlins aren't quite ready to give Chisholm the green light for full activities after he strained his left hamstring a week ago, he doesn't appear on track to return from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Saturday. That said, Chisholm's ability to get back on the field in some capacity bodes well for his chances of avoiding an extended absence. Isan Diaz will serve as the Marlins' primary second baseman while Chisholm is on the shelf.

Could return after short IL stint Marlins manager Don Mattingly is hopeful that Chisholm (hamstring) will be back "fairly quick" after his IL stint, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Impact Mattingly said that Chisholm's placement on the 10-day injured list was somewhat precautionary after Jorge Alfaro attempted to play through a hamstring issue earlier in the season and eventually required a stay on the injured list. Isan Diaz could serve as the top option at second base in the near future, but Jon Berti could also see increased time at the keystone once Brian Anderson (oblique) is cleared to return.

Impact Chisholm tweaked his hamstring on the bases in the first inning of Tuesday's contest, and he'll miss additional time while he recovers. Isan Diaz was recalled by the Marlins in a corresponding move and is starting at second base in Wednesday's game against the Brewers, although Jon Berti could shift to the keystone once Brian Anderson (oblique) gets healthy. It's not yet clear when Chisholm will be able to return to game action.
