Unlikely to return this season Manager Joe Maddon said Wednesday he doesn't anticipate Adell (abdomen) returning from the injured list before the end of the season, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact The 22-year-old landed on the shelf earlier in the day with the left abdominal strain he suffered in a collision with the outfield wall Saturday, and he's apparently experiencing issues rotating and swinging a bat. Given there's less than three weeks left in the regular season, it's not a major surprise Adell isn't expected back given his current limitations. He hasn't been officially ruled out but is likely to finish 2021 with his current .246/.295/.408 slash line, four homers, 26 RBI and 17 runs in 140 plate appearances.

Moves to IL The Angels placed Adell on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left abdominal strain.
Impact Adell was believed to be dealing with some back soreness after crashing into the outfield fence during a game Saturday in Houston, but it's now been diagnosed as an abdominal strain. He hasn't played in either of the Angels' last two games as a result, and with Adell not showing the desired improvement heading into Wednesday's contest against the White Sox, Los Angeles elected to deactivate him. Jose Rojas was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move, and he and Juan Lagares could be the primary options in right field while Adell is on the shelf.
