Impact Means had allowed 13 runs (10 earned) in 8.1 innings across his last two starts, and he fared slightly better Sunday. However, he was still charged with his third consecutive loss in the low-scoring contest. In seven starts since the All-Star break, the southpaw has recorded a 5.84 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 37 innings. He tentatively lines up to make his next start at home against the Rays on Saturday.

Impact Means was undone by two long balls, one a two-run shot and the other a three-run homer. He worked through three scoreless innings, but surrendered six hits across the fourth and fifth frames to account for all the damage. This start continued a trend of short outings for Means, as he has failed to complete five innings in either of his last two starts and has gone three outings without reaching six frames. Despite the recent downturn, he still has a 3.44 ERA with 94 strikeouts across 102 innings.

Impact Means was coming off back-to-back starts allowing just one earned run, but he was unable to keep that streak going and couldn't even escape the fifth inning. He also had issues with the long ball, as he gave up three homers and now has given up at least two long balls in six of his last nine starts. The southpaw saw his ERA climb to 3.21 following this outing, but it's worth noting his recent performances have not been sharp -- he has given up at least four runs in three of his last five starts.
